DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 29, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 29, 2010 Loves me some Twitter... The image you see above represents an entire year of gaming tweets. It was generated by the Aggregame service, which offers a real-time feed of game-related messages from Twitter, and shows the 150 most used words, collected from more than 28 million individual tweets from July 2009 to July 2010. As you can see, most gamers overwhelmingly tweet and re-tweet about the three major consoles. As for individual games, Modern Warfare 2 and Halo most frequently appeared among 140 characters or less, though World of Warcraft, Uncharted, The Sims and Mario seem to have enjoyed their share of shoutouts. Check out a high-res version of the chart at Aggregame, or simply click past the break to see the saddest thing ever. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/28/a-year-of-gaming-tweets-condensed-into-one-image/
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 29, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 29, 2010 Pretty cool but I can't see Demons Souls on there so fail @ Gamers :p And also, trust "better than" to appear Wouldn't be from gamers without the endless comparison and comparing marathon. iKenndac
Anyone else find it a bit strange that 360 didn't make it in? Nope ??I don't ever call it an 'Xbox 360', and nor do any of my friends. We just refer to it as the Xbox, and when I write about it I do the same. It's the same with any product that contains arbitrary numbers and letters. Do I call my car my "Volvo V50 D5 R-Design SE Sport"? No, I call it my Volvo, or even just "my car".
Sethos
Nope — I don't ever call it an 'Xbox 360', and nor do any of my friends. We just refer to it as the Xbox, and when I write about it I do the same. It's the same with any product that contains arbitrary numbers and letters. Do I call my car my "Volvo V50 D5 R-Design SE Sport"? No, I call it my Volvo, or even just "my car". Odd, I don't know anyone who refers to it simply as Xbox - That's only non-gaming folk and the media. Me, my friends both on and offline call it the "360" "Let's play some 360", "You up for a game on the 360?", "Your 360 is snogging my girl ..." There's like 30 odd million 360 owners, cross reference the probability of a good % of those people saying "360" or "Xbox 360" with some of the other words in that image. Probably just the company leaving it at Xbox and choosing not to include 360, I can't believe 360 wouldn't be popular enough to show up.
GreatStalin
Pretty cool but I can't see Demons Souls on there so fail @ Gamers :p Perhaps because half type it correctly and the other half type it incorrectly! Shame on you, Mr. Boxer!

LingeringSoul
My friends and I also refer to it as the 360. It's definitely strange not to see it in there at all. Perhaps the aggregator algorithm ignores all numbers or something (that is, all numbers that don't have letters attached to them, so ps3 and mw2 are still picked up by the algorithm). That's a pretty neat image, though. Yay Mass Effect :).
The Teej
Not even a singular Zelda mention on there. Bad times :p
+Mystic MVC Posted July 31, 2010 MVC Share Posted July 31, 2010 Same here. Myself and everyone I know refers to it as the 360. Another vote for referring to it as the 360. :p Good or bad, it is amazing to see how many different forms of Call of Duty there are on that picture. I think the series is equal to (or possibly above) the Sims franchise when looking at social visibility to non gamers especially considering how many times MW2 was shown in commercials during big TV events. treemonster
i have friends that call it either or. i call it both but rarely the full "xbox 360" i wonder what something like this will look like in 1-5years when fb and twitter integration into video games is common?
