Edrick Smith
I shot a bunch of footage with a Canon GL2 with the 16:9 Setting turned on, however when it got imported into Final Cut it's back to 4:3 720x480. Does anyone have ideas for how to get the proper formatting back? This was shot on MiniDV Tapes and I have the tapes if it needs to be reimported. The project settings are 16:9 however if I drop the clip to the timeline it asks if I'd like to change the format to the source clip and if I say no I then get the bars on the sides. Wombatt
Sound like its a setting to do with your pixel sizes, and/or its been captured incorrectly. Obviously the footage you have has been captured in the wrong format, So i would open a new project, check and double check the project settings and then recapture, after check, and double checking your capturesettings, and turning of all down-convert settings on the camera. Good Luck! :)

Edrick Smith
The issue was with the capture settings, had to tell it that it was Anamorphic. Basically since it was shot on Mini-DV it records it to a 4:3 frame.
