Behemoth
I consider Meshuggah as extreme metal. Anyone agree? Without a doubt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUPUQSFCusY The Faceless? BRUTAL. Good submission. (Y)
bruNo_
Yeah, I don't think the clean vocal fits the song, but it's their differential compared to other bands. Sinister! EDIT: I was just listening to this song, and thought it'd be great to share.

firey
Man, this drummer isn't human. Haha I know, and it stays pretty solid throughout the entire song, like it's not just random here and there fast bits.

Teebor
Seems like a pointless argument there are only two types of music in the world Metal and not-metal Metal has two categories, that which I like and that which I don't but will still listen too Oddly enough there is also a third category that the "not-metal" category falls in to which is Don't like listening too and don't like :D I think I must be falling behind the times though, I don't recognise a lot of the bands in this thread :( I need to broaden my horizons
Jub
I don't recognise a lot of the bands in this thread :( I need to broaden my horizons You're lucky, You won't find much here. Looking elsewhere will help you better. To point out a few things... Extreme defined by heavy riffs and guttural vocals? Right. "Extreme metal" is a broader term than modern commercialised death metal with just-for-the-sake-of-it complex composition. If need be, there are bands like INFESTED that actually manage the technical bits all right. And well, then there are, just to name two, Shrinebuilder and Doomsword. Saying that Burzum is crap, after linking the extremecunt Nargaroth? Two million notes in three minutes isn't everything. Or, well, show me anything with a comparable atmosphere to Burzum and I may change my mind. Discussing what is and what isn't extreme metal is like discussing what's right and wrong. Just another endless and silly Internet topic. Especially considering most people posting here seem to want to discover new music? It's not like a loose term can run out of space, there's plenty of it for both death metal and everything else people want to invent.
