BillyGoat1978
Hi All, I have a LAN setup using a customized Linux based OS as the server. Clients are connected to the server (172.16.0.1 sub: 255.255.0.0) and share the internet using this. IP address assigned to clients is static. Lately some rouge is trying to disrupt services to the network by assigning the server IP to his machine. I detected the fellow and he has been warned so no issues with him. But in order to avoid any suchj activity in future, I wana get some method in which this can be prevented all together. Is there a way? I dont wana invest in any hardware firewall or anything. I wana know if there is anything I can do to stop this. I heard using a different subnet works but I dont know how to go about it. Any help will be appreciated. TIA Sumit
MxxCon
you could use MAC filtering. give out specific ips only to specific MAC addresses. or setup permisions on client machines so they don't have access to network configuration..
