Sethos
EA’s just confirmed that Crysis 2 has been pushed into Q4 FY2011. The push is mentioned in the company’s recently released financials. Originally, the Crytek super-shooter was due for a release this holiday season, and in fact, had its release brought forward to autumn just before E3. The game’s multiplayer is due to be shown in two weeks at gamescom at Crytek’s home terf in Cologne. It’ll released on PS3, 360 and PC, and will also support 3D VG247

Tech Star
I can understand this because this Holiday is packed with a ton of great games. GT5 and Reach being two of them.
Ayepecks
Like last year let's begin to watch everything now cram itself into Q1 2011 apart from Modern Warfare. Pretty sure if I'm reading that right it means it's been delayed a full year, not a quarter. I figured this would happen, because they've shown so little of the game, and what they did show at E3 just didn't look anywhere near finished or refined. Because of the way some companies fiscal years work (usually American companies?), Q4 actually comes down as Jan-April. I believe it's to do with the tax year/financial fiscal year. I believe anyway, I always get confused when they talk about release dates in terms of the financial stuff

I believe anyway, I always get confused when they talk about release dates in terms of the financial stuff Hmm, I knew that was the case for many companies (Q4 being earlier than the end of the year), but I thought EA's Q4 was more like September or something. macrosslover
yeah, like you all said the 4th quarter for American companies is usually January-March. So a delay but not much for a delay considering it was originally a holiday release? Although I'm sure this will hurt sales, simply because there's more money people are willing to spend during the holidays than the rest of the year. So if they released it next to Halo and MW and it "bombed" by only selling like 2 million copies, that would still probably be more than a possible 1 mill something it might sell during the early part of the year by itself. Only time will tell how well it sales, but I think about Mass Effect 2 that has so far "only" managed to sell like 1.3 million or something and I'm sure if they released it during Christmas they probably would have doubled that at least. This also makes me wonder if they are going to push back KOTOR to avoid these products hurting each other. While they are aimed toward 2 different markets somewhat, if a consumer had to choose between one or the other that's not good for EA. They definately want KOTOR to be as successful as possible, even if it only managed half the numbers that WOW currently has that's alot of money each quarter for EA. Saurabh32
During Electronic Arts' Q1 fiscal earnings call, the publisher announced it has delayed Crysis 2 until early next year. The game will now ship during EA's fiscal fourth quarter, which begins on January 1, 2011. "We moved to the game to a better marketing window in the March quarter," Jeff Brown, VP of Corporate Communications told IGN. "This will also give the Crytek team more time to polish a great title." Crysis 2 was originally scheduled to ship during this fall for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Source

Sethos
As the others said, it's fiscal year and I believe the EA 2011 FY runs up till March / April 2011 - So Q4 could be the start of 2011, so the delay is tiny.

LingeringSoul
Put me down on the list of people who will be playing Halo Reach and GT5. I'd rather see Crytek take their time and ship it when it's ready, since we have enough great games this fall anyways.
neoadorable
Crytech...why am i not surprised. They just heard from reliable sources 16GB of 2.5GHz DDR3 isn't the end user average.
WastedJoker
Having completed Crysis and Crysis Warhead for the first time this week I have to say I hope they have picked up the pace of the gameplay if they're going to copy Crysis' original gamestyle - the original Crysis was a bit too slow-paced for my preference whereas Crysis Warhead was a perfect little package (but won't suit the Crysis 2 setting). I am curious to see how my rig will play the game - right now it's still a powerful rig but in another 8 months? :? Who knows!
Tech Star
Official date confirmed! Fans of first-person shooters were disappointed when it was announced that Crysis 2 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 was delayed from its original fall release into 2011. Now EA and Crytek have set the new release date as March 22, 2011 for North America and March 25, 2011 for Europe.Crysis 2 moves the alien invasion from the open island in the first game to the urban jungle of New York City of 2023 in what Crytek is calling a choreographed sandbox The nano-suited hero is the only one capable of dealing with the alien threat and gets new abilities with Nanosuit 2.0. The game will also support stereoscopic 3D on all three gaming platforms. News Source: "]Examiner
