2K Games have today announced that a new single-player, narrative driven DLC pack featuring new characters and locations to the world of Rapture is in development and to be released soon on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Minerva’s Den will pit you in the body of an all new character who has teamed up with Brigid Tenenbaum to unravel a dictator’s stranglehold on a key district in the distinctive city under the sea; also knows as Rapture Central Computing.

This is an all new environment which will feature new Splicers, upgraded security bots that can throw lightning bolts, and a never been seen type of Big Daddy…and of course, a load more twists in the BioShock 2 storyline.

“Minerva’s Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they’re looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva’s Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga.”

And, it would seem, this is also to be the final DLC pack for BioShock 2, as suggested by the final words from Christoph Hartmann. I’m sure it will be a fitting end, and we may even see BioShock 3 soon. We can only hope!
