san.W10
Bought a Xbox 360 controller last month, but then noticed a joystick issue in it on same day itself. The joystick had/has small free-play to it, which shows as input in games/gamepad properties window.(see pic) I slightly pushed both the joysticks, take my finger off it, then joystick just stays in that position (took the screenshot with my hands off gamepad). in all racing games, i have to set deadzone, which was never a problem with cheapass chinese gamepads :p if i dont set the deadzone, the car will slightly steer to left /right just after pushing joystick to left/right & sometimes w/o any input. only in games like gta, i dont see the deadzone problem I complained this to MS & the online shop i bought it from. The shop CC agreed to replace it from their distributor. They sent me the replacement today (nearly a month  ), the joystick issue is present in the replacement too ( thats why the doubt now), but more importantly the serial# sticker looks like as if someone tired to remove/replace it. refurbished crap? I just want to know if this free-play is present in all x360 gamepads. cant get to XBOX support till monday.
Sethos
I never calibrated mine, hooked it up, updated it through Windows Update and it's spot-on.

AdamLC
Im sure all those wouldn't have the same issue. Its likely some sort of driver or calibration issue?
sweetham
I have never had a problem with 360 controllers wired or wireless. Only problems I have are their cheap play n charge kits with batteries the die in less than a month.
