david
Maybe a NIKON D60 or D40.
maash
I would like it to be a compact camera and not one where there is additional lens cost. This is a gift for someone
Kondrath
It's probably not the best, but I like the Panasonic Lumix FH20. The prices varies site to site, but it can be had for about $147-$200 depending on site and color. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=Panasonic%20Lumix%20FH20&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3APanasonic%20Lumix%20FH20&page=1 And here's a review of it with some sample photos - http://pyktures.blogspot.com/2010/03/lumix-fh20-review-pyktures-reviews.html The pictures really do come out that nice. I recommended it for a friend of mine and she loves it a lot. If I ever needed a point and shoot, I'd definitely get one of those or something similar. Argote
Some to consider (in no particular order): http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-S8000-Vibration-Reduction-Black/dp/B0034XIM82/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812134&sr=1-6 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SX210IS-Stabilized-Black/dp/B0035FZJM6/ref=sr_1_16?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812202&sr=1-16 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD3500IS-Stabilized-Silver/dp/B0035FZJIA/ref=sr_1_19?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812202&sr=1-19 http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-ZS7-Digital-Stabilized-3-0-Inch/dp/B00395WIXA/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812291&sr=1-3 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-H55-SteadyShot-Stabilization/dp/B0033VKKB2/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812323&sr=1-
Sjokkel
I agree with this one : http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-ZS7-Digital-Stabilized-3-0-Inch/dp/B00395WIXA/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281812291&sr=1-3 I shoot DSLR's also but find them to bulky to carry around on a normal family day. The DMC-ZS7 is a great alternative. Nice zoom for those visits to the Zoo or other places where nice pictures are just too far away, great overall picture quality and on top of that easy filmshooting at 720p with zoom! I hardly leave mine at home.
