PHP Knowledge Base

Question

Hey all,

Im looking to set up a knowledge base to use for my 3rd year of uni.

I want to be able to fill it will the notes i take from lectures and any other info i have.

I've tried a couple of KB's out, but i seem to run into problems with them almost instantly.

Has anyone used 68kb or phpmyfaq before? if so, did they work fine?

Does anyone have any suggestions of other free php based knowledge bases?

if anyone has personal experience in doing this type of thing i would love some advice :D

Thanks in advance

I've never done it, but I've thought about using a private wiki for putting my notes and stuff onto - I guess that's a similar thing to what you're aiming for.

The reason why I never did it is the same reason I don't take a laptop to lectures - it's just easier to write stuff by hand than it is on a laptop. Copying diagrams and formulae etc is a pain to do quickly on a computer while your lecturer is rambling away, but scribbling on a page is as easy as it can get.

I'm going into my 3rd year in Sept too, I was thinking of setting up something like Redmine (google it, I cba :p) for keep track of my final year project stuff. It's got a wiki for documentation, but also a bug tracker and source control integration which could be useful.

I've used 68kb before and it's decent enough although it could be more streamlined. Perhaps you can consider using Wordpress? There are a few kb themes out there that are awesome. One I've used is from Themeforest: Wordpress Wiki Theme. I'm overly partial to Wordpress which is why I had went with it in the first place. Going with something that's specifically geared towards a wiki/kb is just as good though :).

Thanks for the replies,

After working into the early hours of last night, i managed to get phpmyfaq to play ball... for now.

I will check out Redmine and see if that will be any good, and if all else fails i'll see what good ol' wordpress can do for me :D

Thanks again
