DrunkenMaster
What other PCI cards did you install in the system. Do you have an on-board ATA-100 controller? I ran into a similar problem when I installed a Promise ATA-100 card in my computer. When I would go to install Windows, while it would not bluescreen, it would completely lock the machine during the installation. If I removed the card, installed the OS and THEN installed the card + its drivers it would work. Similarly you should do the same with your computer, remove any uneeded on-board cards (you'll need the graphics card) and see if will install. Also, make sure your motherboard doesn't have on board Audio, Video, SCSI or Networking. If it does disable it and you might want to try disabling the on board PNP just to see if that works. You might want to try this one step at a time so that you can find the culprit assuming its not the CPU or the motherboard. My 2$$ anyways. That's what I would try. ericlims
I've stated my the specs up earlier..nothing etravagant..just the common stuffs.. Anyone else with this problem..?
khaos34
Take out all the components of your computer, motherboard included, and just put it back together as a last ditch effort. I seen this work around 4-5 times for different people for strange reasons... one computer with a enw athlon xp 1800 and abit mobo wouldn't turn on right, would hang after winXP installations on two different hard drives, and would not even show video when turned on half the time. After taking the PCI cards out, quickly skimming over the contacts on the AGP & PCI cards to make sure there's no dirt (cleaned with rubber eraser), and refitting the motherboad and all the cards, all the problems disappeared. Hope you get it working, good luck!:p :s

sneekez
Try this...when using the boot floppies the first one will ask if you have any SCSI or other devices...instead of depressing F6 depress F7. It's a silent command to bypass ACPI installation. There is a possibility there is a conflict here. HTH
ericlims
Well, did as u say, took off the sound card /modem card. Left only the HDD, CD and AGP..Couldn'ttake them out coz if not if won't work..:(

December2001
ericlims, put everything back to your box, use the old fdisk command to check if your partition is all right, I suggest deleting any partition and make new ones, make sure check active partition, dont forget formating then try again, hope this help.
