[Rumor] Mass Effect: Genesis for PS3

Recommended Posts

From a post on the gaf which has now spread over a few places, seems "sources" close to a poster as well as some Spanish language sites are saying there will be a Special Edition of ME coming this year for PS3.

The "Genesis" could mean both games + DLC as one package, getting around any publishing / exclusivity deal MS had with Bioware for the first game.

Take it for what it is: a random hype rumor. Have ME on PC, couldn't get into it, partially becase the story took a while to get into, and partially because controls seemed suited for a gamepad rather than M/Kb, but that may just be me.

Considering they have been at EA for a while, I'm surprised nothing ever came of this, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen.

And I would totally buy either a Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 seperately, or a Mass Effect 1+2 box again, I own both on 360 and I would love another excuse to go through both.

first, I played it on a PC and the controls were really good. 1 & 2 were really good on the PC. 2nd we have been hearing rumors of ME comming to the PS3 ever since the first one. I don't know if it will come out on PS3 but it wouldn't surprise me.

Should have happened in 2008 imo and surprised it didn't. Was sure EA would ###### it out. They almost did with iPhone/DS versions.

By now if you wanted to play them you've already invested the time, money and have save games/dlc for the 360/pc to finish the trilogy with.

Obv new players won't be effected.

To be honest I never considered this a rumor but as fact :p Soon as EA acquired BioWare I've always thought the PS3 version of Mass Effect was always a matter of "when" not "if". It's a fantastic game and PS3 owners will enjoy it :)

yeah this is one 360 "exclusive" i'm more than willing to share. EA did say to expect some big Mass Effect news around the first 3 months of 2011, so it's possible this could be it early or they could be planning something else more other than the already announced ME3.

Anyone else think Move compatibility is a potential considering how far back the porting rumours go?

ME1&2 with all the DLC and Move support on one disc would be awesome.

Would certainly look to pick this up should it come out, even better if it's both in the one package, but can't see them doing that without some extortionate pricing to go along with it.

Well ME2 is coming to PS3 in January. Looks like MS still have publishing rights to ME1 on consoles?

Now I really don't see the point in doing it when you miss the first chapter

^ you should use spoiler tags seeing as Sony gamers haven't even got the game yet and you're revealing plot points.

And the game will do the same as it does on the 360 if you never finished/played ME1, use the default decisions.

Yeah pretty much.

Imo they'll prob include a recap video of the first game's plot to start PS3 gamers off.

That would suck though. ME2 was all about, look, we got your first games progress recapping and causing things in the 2nd one!! and now all that will be rubbish. This will be basically a game that keeps eluding to crap I never got to do lol.

Actually Mass Effect 2 is still an amazing game even if played as a stand alone.

Choices made in Mass Effect 1 really didn't affect the main plot. Aside from the spoiler I posted before plus one other one, everything else is barely memorable

along with me2 maps feeling smaller, ps3 owners are going to miss out on alot of the awe-factor that made the original so good.

Not as good as I hoped, but ME3 incoming to PS3 :D

I played ME1 on 360, ME2 on PC, saved games files meant meh to me.

Yup. Not to mention, missing out on the save files and carrying your experience over. Epic loss there.
