McCordRm
Ok, so I need to know if you guys think this design is easy on the eyes. For anyone that hasn't read my previous thread when I was trying to do this in Wordpress, I basically took a couple of Wordpress themes and bastardized them to get the layout I wanted. Now I just need to make sure the text is easy to read and follow. EDIT: Sorry- http://www.richardmccord.com
0 primexx
rule of thumb: font size 100% (usually translates to 16px), 150% line height, dark grey (e.g. #333) on light (e.g. commonly white) background. also make generous use of margins in every direction. 0 McCordRm
I'm not worried about Margins at the moment. I was having some difficulty getting my two DIVs to line up side-by-side and needed a way (without borders) to show me the very edges of the DIVs. As for the text, you think dark grey would be easier to read on that white background than the current black?
0 DirtyLarry Veteran Posted August 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 17, 2010 I think the text is fine being black. If you want to make it a grey, just do not go to light, but either or I think will work. As already suggested, margins need to have more padding on the sides. Also, although you were not really asking for feedback on everything else, I strongly, strongly recommend losing the bevel and emboss on the main logo, your name. I think it makes the logo not as crisp as it can be, and I really do not think it will take away from it, and if anything it will add to it. If you really want to keep it, play around with having different colors for the screen and multiply of the bevel filter. It can add a bit more life when you change the colors, but I do suggest dropping it totally, as it will give it a cleaner look overall.
0 McCordRm
Graphic art is SO not my forte. Thus, the use of templates to "build" my site. I also went to Cooltext.com to create my name that way. Did I mention I suck when it comes to graphic design?
0 Brian Veteran Posted August 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 17, 2010 Hey Richard, I'm with Larry on the logo and your tagline beside them... Also, the only thing that I find distracting is the stitching. The whole page has a late nineties feel about it which is cool, definitely a change from the modern designs of today. Overstylized for my liking, but obviously very personal! I'd say put a request for a logo... I might even try something for you tomorrow.
0 McCordRm
Kewl. Request for logo. heh. Also, I like the stitching... but mostly because I can't get rid of it without ruining the rest of the graphic. I like the graphic because I feel like it emphasises the "content" area. So yea, overall pretty personal preference.
