Crysis 2 Xbox 360 closed beta announced

EA has announced that, for a limited time at launch, a Limited Edition of Crysis 2 will be available for the same price as the standard edition. In other words, "buy the game immediately." The "Limited Edition" includes bonus experience points in multiplayer, a "SCAR Hologram Decoy" that allows players to project an image of themselves, a "SCAR Weapon Skin" in digital camouflage, and an in-game Platinum Dog Tag.

Not extravagant enough? EA also announced the Crysis 2 Nano Edition, which despite its name is quite a bit larger. It'll include the Limited Edition of the game, a steel case, an 11" statue of the protagonist atop an NYC taxi, and an art book. And all of that's inside a backpack (designed to resemble the Nanosuit). This outrageous special edition will only be available via pre-order from EA, for $149.99, £119.99, or EUR 129.99.

In addition, EA announced that a closed beta will be held for Xbox 360 players "later this year." Enjoy some new gameplay footage after the break, and learn about the announced multiplayer modes here.

I want to be on that beta dang it!

Question begs to be asked, why bother making 2 versions if you'll include all the extras at the same price? Cut your own publishing costs and make one sku :s (referring to the standard & limited edts)

Anyway, nice that MS & Crytek are getting cosy (Y) Will hopefully get into that beta :)

No because they are selling it for the same price. If anything they're losing money giving away more for less. Doesn't matter how long it's available for.

And like I said, producing more skus costs more money too.

For a game like Crysis I really don't think it'll matter in the long run anyway, it's gonna sell bucket loads. That and their mark-ups probably cover a bulk of the cost too.

Anywayyyy...

They're not really losing much money since the limited edition hardly adds anything extra. It's just a way for them to hopefully increase first-week/-month sales which are a big statistic in the industry.

Looking forward to playing this (Y)

The footage shown at the link doesn't do that game justice at all. That's possibly the most scripted match i've ever seen. Watch the first two embedded videos here if you want to see the non-scripted PC gameplay.

PC gameplay is going to look much better than the 360 or PS3 gameplay.

I laugh at the guys that keep voting my threads one star. One day they might grow up.

Don't fret it -- that's the maturity of the Neowin community. I remember a year or two ago that (for a few months) PS3 fans came in and voted 360 topics 1 star each. In retaliation, 360 fans went and did the same to PS3 topics. Then people just chose individuals and rated their topics 1 star. You should consider it a rite of passage

is there going to be a PC beta? and is the game going to be a horrible laggy port or built separately for PC?

Yes, there will be a PC beta. I really don't think it's going to be a horrible laggy port... pretty sure it's built separately. The E3 stuff was all recorded off a PC from what I understand, they just used a 360 controller. But the latest videos are on the 360, and you can tell a noticeable reduction in the framerate (but still definitely playable).

They already said the PC version suffered because of the console versions.
