+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 18, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted August 18, 2010 BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka has revealed to VG247 that Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network DLC will be available for the PS3 version in a "full way." While he didn't get too specific, he indicated that "a lot," if not all of the post-release content that's been released for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game will be integrated into the initial PS3 release. Additionally, the PS3 port will feature some form of an "introduction experience that provides the backstory and the things that have happened" in the first game (which is not available on PS3)."We haven't revealed what that is yet," Muzyka said of the introduction for first-time Mass Effect players. "It'll be something that provides a good introduction and provides a lot of the backstory and introduces you well to the story-arc, and kind of makes you feel like you're part of it all. And then you can jump right into the action in Mass Effect 2." Muzyka also touched on the possibility of Mass Effect 3 launching simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, teasing, "That'd be a good guess, but we haven't announced any details on any future formats or anything -- or even formally announced Mass Effect 3 yet." Of course, BioWare "wants to support different platforms, reach different audiences," Muzyka added, "we're part of EA and we want to make sure we can embrace that as well. I think we're trying to do that with all of our products, whether it's Dragon Age or Mass Effect." oceanmotion
Why can't they just port Mass Effect 1 ?
Hedon
Perfect. Smart move from Bioware. Ramping up to release ME3 for the PS3 as well.

shakey
Damn, I'm loving this more and more I read. Was expecting a petty port at first, and now it seems like they are really trying to make this worth our money and time again to play it lol. Might actually get it for the ps3 and actually play all the way through it. It was alright on the PC, but due to time restraints and such, never finished it. Massiveterra
They should have a 10 minute elevator ride with some voice over recapping the first game.
oceanmotion
Microsoft published it. Ah, I see. Guess Bioware and now EA owning the IP wasn't enough. Pity.
Minifig
They should have a 10 minute elevator ride with some voice over recapping the first game. Two benefits: It gets them used to the elevator rides AND explains the first game..
Vice
It's a great game. If you PS3 owners are on the fence I say buy it, the story is excellent the mini-stories that drive the main narrative are also interesting and fun to play. If I had to make a list of the Top 10 games I've ever played ME2 would be in there.
Massiveterra
Hopefully the loading times get improved for the ps3 version. It's more than halfway through the year, and ME2 is still my GOTY Two benefits: It gets them used to the elevator rides AND explains the first game.. No one should go into Mass Effect universe without experiencing the pains of elevator rides LOL
spenser.d
That's too bad they can't just get ME1. ME2 is fantastic, but ME1 has much better replay value, IMO.
Livin in a box
It must have just been me but when I played the demo I got a sense of...an awful film. Might have to wait and play the full game but I wasn't overly keen. Demo certainly doesn't entice me to rush out and buy it.
soniqstylz
Hopefully the loading times get improved for the ps3 version. LMFAO. Not without a 10GB install. Maybe there's your elevator ride intro.
Xerxes
Hopefully the loading times get improved for the ps3 version. It's more than halfway through the year, and ME2 is still my GOTY No one should go into Mass Effect universe without experiencing the pains of elevator rides LOL  PS3 owners suffer enough as it is with loading times, no need to make it worse for them :p Seriously though, it should run really well on the PS3 (since it should be relatively easy to port the game over, since the engine is already PS3 compatible). I'm expecting it to run alot smoother and the visuals will no doubt be tweaked (this is to be expected), BioWare are working on it after all. I do expect a mandatory install though. That's too bad they can't just get ME1. ME2 is fantastic, but ME1 has much better replay value, IMO. ME1 was awesome (particularly on the first play though, you don't see those twists coming!) however, compared to ME2 I find it a little stale. I mean it had a much superior inventory/armor/weapon management system but it did become very tedious after awhile (I was often wasting ages having to sort through all my weapons/armor/upgrades etc as I was constantly running out of room :p) and the "genericness" of the worlds and sub quests did grate after awhile (I mean how many times can you rearrange the contents of a small building?). ME2 added alot more variety and made things alot more interesting :) It must have just been me but when I played the demo I got a sense of...an awful film. Might have to wait and play the full game but I wasn't overly keen. Demo certainly doesn't entice me to rush out and buy it. ME isn't for everyone, if your a big RPG fan you will probably not enjoy it but if you like action style games with a good story (and believe me, it is) then ME is your type of game. ME1 was closer to an RPG then ME2 but I feel the more action focused gameplay of ME2 suits the game better...gives a better sense of urgency (well I feel) which is appropriate considering what is ultimately going to happen in the third game. Sadelwo
I wonder if this DLC will be a condensed version of the Virmire mission/Final Confrontation on the Citidel. Those are the most critical moments of the game and the decisions carried over to ME2.

Those are the most critical moments of the game and the decisions carried over to ME2. The PS3 isn't getting any new DLC, they just mean most (if not all) the currently released DLC for the 360/PC version will be included on the disc of the PS3 version from day one. The only extra thing they are getting is an intro section to the events of ME1, I'm not sure how they plan to do it though. Possibly a lengthy cutsceen or perhaps an interactive intro like the beginning of ME2 with the destruction of the Normandy SR1 (although not sure how they'd do that, perhaps a serious of flashbacks?) or they might just include flashbacks within the main part of the game that are triggered when meeting characters/visiting places from the first game (abit like they did on the Normandy SR1 crash site DLC), I dunno clutching at straws here :p

SimplySchizo
I would've much preferred the first. But it's something. I will actually be making my 4th attempt at a 360. Hopefully they've ironed out the wrinkles with this last revamp. Had some gift $ sitting in amazon and decided to get one along with the original MassEffect. For $200, it wasn't that bad.? Funny cause I decided to get it with the sole purpose of playing the MassEffect series. Day after I put in the order, Bioware releases the news.? :pinch: Ah well, looking forward to playing ShadowComplex again. Also picked up Bayonetta at BestBuy, it's on sale for $19.99. Can't beat that.
