Hum
A little more then three years after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Commerce police raided a suspected chop shop, prosecutors have filed formal charges against its operator. A Jackson County grand jury charged Kathryn Bruce Booth, 51, with 10 counts of theft by receiving and nine counts of operating a chop shop, according to indictments filed this week. Booth is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Sept. 30. The charges against Booth stem from an August 2007 raid on K & W Used Cars, then at 298 Harris St. in Commerce. Police believe Booth ran a chop shop out of the used car lot for more than four years, they said at the time. Investigators searched the car lot over a three-day period and turned up 21 crushed cars that had been reported stolen, as well as stolen parts, authorities said. source
