BroChaos Veteran Posted July 21, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 21, 2003 http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=252417 anyone have any experience with this? i want a wireless b+g router, to hook up 2 wired computers, and 2 wireless laptops (and perhaps 1 xbox). i was also looking at the linksys wrt54g, but it's more expensive. which one is better? Roger H. Veteran Posted July 21, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 21, 2003 i would go for the Linksys. It's been upgraded to WPA so more secure (Windows XP Patch is out but now you need a firmware for you wi-fi card in your PDA/Laptop to take full advantage) I dunno but i just always had better luck with Linksys. I set up a Dlink for my ex-girl and boy it was hell, i came home and set up my Linksys and that sucker went in in 2mins! Plugged in cables, plugged in power and it was ready. I later configured the security settings but i get better range with it too...

spacey
a word of warning. i hope you don't have 2.4 ghz cordless phones that are in usage often. i bought a d-link AirPlus router/pcmcia card and it was good for awhile, but then when anyone used the phone the connection just didn't degrade. it dropped. but some ppl have different experiences with different phones and the location and distance of the access point. Chadwick
dont ever get a microsoft router. i have a d-link and if u know how to deal with ip's and stuff and know ur network stuff its actually very easy to get setup. as for the microsoft router, which my uncle got because it came with a laptop card (nice deal) after spending and hour to get it setup. i now have no access from any computer to the router, so it kinda sucks lol. BroChaos Veteran Posted July 22, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted July 22, 2003 haha, i'd never buy an ms router it's just between the linksys and d-link.
Chadwick
go for price than, i personally like d-link and have had good experience with them, it provides an awesome signal compared to hte microsoft router :| and it actually increased my speed-test results moving up from a wired connection over the old d-714+ router.
