What makes GT5 special

The game isn't out and some of the stuff in here is golden, I'm genuinely laughing!

alright bud, we get it, you love forza even though Gran Turismo is known to be THE racing sim and you think it's an arcade game.

GT is the "driving" sim, not the "racing" sim. Up through GT5 academy so far, it's been wall bumper physics. We are hoping the final release improves this.

forza 1 & 2 both competed with the GT series, while it had crash damage (which the other series didn't) the actual gameplay didn't really hold up to what GT had.

GT has a better career (and I even like bspec). But the actual simulation physics in GT doesn't compare to Forza's. GT has a bunch of catching up to do there. GT has the graphics, the career and the number of cars (as they should, since they have had more versions). They needed physics and online. So far, it looks like they nailed the online for GT5 for November.

What?

Kinda like you do in unreleased Xbox game threads. Classic. laugh.gif

your precious Forza 3

I love stuff like that..and like this...your precious (and mine) GT5.

GT5 Academy is old? And your replays are also intentional. But you knew that.

Yeah GT5 Academy demo was built before august of last year for a private competition and then released later that year in December to the public, do some research Brian, oh and also they setup a demo for the Mercedes museum in Europe that looked to be new but that build was also old with a build date of January 2009 and you are comparing GT5 demos to a finished retail title.

Forza's physics are ridiculous just normal driving and not intentional glitching, I've never seen a car ever roll over in real life hitting the apex of a chicane in a normal turn

Why do you keep posting videos of laggy internet games to somehow prove that Forza's physics are bad.

All car games glitch like that on laggy internet, well the OTHER cars do. if you think GT5 will be any different you need an FMRI.

Is it even confirmed that GT5 will have rolling, they've confirmed limited damage, but not rolling I believe. rolling is something the car manufacturers don't want sims to simulate, hence why in previous Forza you couldn't even roll the car, unless again, laggy internet connections. an then it was just a visual thing. Actual rolling in Forza 3 on good connections, are very nice.

Yes rolling is in GT5...

If you guys are going to compare an unreleased game like you all did after E3 2009 at least know what's in the game. You didn't then before making all the sweeping statements and that sincerely bit you all in the ass ;)

wtf are you talking about now.

I've never made statements about GT5 if I didn't know, like now I said I Wasn't sure. and so far GT5 has claimed a lot of stuff that later was retracted or was later told, well it wasn't as good as we said. So maybe get off your high horse, and maybe you shouldn't be the one to talk about statements that are false and bite you in the ass, kind of your trademark there.

Sure GT5 Might the the awesomest most realistic racing sim ever. At the same time that will **** off all the existing fans who do NOT want a super realistic racing sim, that's never what GT was, and never what the fans wanted. These are the people who tried Forza and went whining away because it was boring and just racing. Yes they're adding damage and all that, and beefing up the underlying simulation engine. But do you really think they're going to change the whole basis of the game to compete with a different racing game that caters to a different audience and thus abandon their existing audience. worked real well for NFS that...

First off did you even look at the videos? they are not online sessions, and did you read what i said cars shouldn't ever rollover in a turn like that as it would take great elevation on the chicane to even rollover like that unless your driving a 3 wheel Reliant Robin  , the proof is there.

also why don't you have a visit to the Forza forum too see all various glitch threads. Forza Motorsport Forum

I'm pretty sure the existing fans of GT want a realistic racing sim... If not they can play on the go karts laugh.gif

I have never played a GT game so I would know the context so I would like to know what makes GT5 such a hyped game especially when a lot of multiplatform racing games and exclusives like Forza 3 have been rated so highly. How is it from the previews that it is thought to be STILL the holy grail. This is a question raise because along with my 360 I am looking to buy a PS3 this fall

Because no other console racer offers the amount of content and longevity that the Gran Turismo franchise has brought to the table with each incarnation. GT5 looks to be carrying on this tradition.

And you think GT5 won't have glitches. it'll have glitches like every other game, and just like Forza, you won't see them in regular gameplay, only when specifically trying to "activate" them.

Yeah GT5 Academy demo

Is their newest public build available to the general public showing their latest physic engine (I was also part of the competition), showing that it has glitches still, just like GT5p did.

If you think Forza physics are bad, then you must really hate Prologue/Academy physics then.

The first video is GT5 PROLOGUE as shown in the bottom right corner...

Yup.

I remeber when this forum used to be fun....

...Its a game, its supposed to be fun to play. It will have glitches, it won't be perfect but it will be enjoyable.#

Want a real simulator? Take your own car to a track day. Nothign computer generated will ever come close to the real world, look at F1 these days, they run countless simulations on high-tech computer for developemnt, but take the part out for a real test and it fails. A computer program is only as good as its developer made it. GT5 will be great and I an't wait, but I'd rather take a Ferrari out on a track in real life :p

On the other hand, track days cost more than a game, lets you test 2-3 cars, not hundreds. and for a lot of us track days aren't a realistic possibility due to location.

Hence we want realistic racing sims that gives use the ability to drive all of these cars as real as possible whenever and wherever we want.

Some time in the future I probably will visit a track in the UK or Germany and try a real sports car with a proper instructor. but I have no idea when that will be.

Watched this a while back. Interesting and informative.

Forza Physics

Yes Forza is a simulator, not an arcade style game. Just as GT5 will be.

I own forza and love it. I also own a PS3 and have already pre-ordered GT5.

I know prologue is old now but comparing prologue with Forza, Forza wins.

Comparing the final GT5 against Forza I'm expecting GT5 to win (Forza's over a year old now).

Forza 3 isn't even a year old yet. But I suspect with this amount of time, GT5 probably has exceeded it. It's gonna rock.
