Vice
Gaming girls exist we have 3 girl players in our Team Fortress 2 clan. We all speak on Mics and it's easy to identify the chicks amongst the sausage-fest. They play hardcore just like the rest of us. They curse, they shout, they own, they taunt. No difference to the guys and they are treated no differently.

I've yet to see a Youtube video of some chick going all NerdRage on her teammates, but plenty of guys doing it. hehe In my clan one of the guys did record one of our girls over a long period of raging and then compiled it in to a youtube movie and put it up and made it sound like she was orgasming while raging. She was not impressed and the video was removed after much protest  She is still with the Clan though!

Reacon
Hey i run the silly org .. I am the evil president with the right to spank ! I was in The Cult, Storm of Chaos, AGP, and a load of others on the Clans. I sometimes wonder what's going on with em, and I impulsively check back each week for Friday with Means to find out whether or not that engine has made some progress yet. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted August 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 26, 2010 Do people seriously think that female gamers are a myth? They exist, and they play a lot of the games that males play (e.g. World of Warcraft, Modern Warfare 2, etc).

We all speak on Mics and it's easy to identify the chicks amongst the sausage-fest. I'm not in a clan but there are usually few girls playing on my usual TF2 server so I guess it's not so hard to find a gamer chick these days. Laurë Veteran Posted August 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 26, 2010 sry people that only Play WoW and or only mainly play RPG ^^^ and facebook apps are NOT GAMERS>>> SRY.. <<any one one can click a mosue button to cast a spell.. nothing special here move along Who are you to decide what counts as a game? Sure they may not be "hardcore", but a game is a game. In my clan one of the guys did record one of our girls over a long period of raging and then compiled it in to a youtube movie and put it up and made it sound like she was orgasming while raging. She was not impressed and the video was removed after much protest  She is still with the Clan though! That's pretty mean to single her out. Was it because she was just a girl? Would it be done to any guys in the clan? Do people seriously think that female gamers are a myth? They exist, and they play a lot of the games that males play (e.g. World of Warcraft, Modern Warfare 2, etc). This confuses me. I've played games since I was young, and I've known a lot of other women that play over the years, with guys around as well. For some reason I think males have more dominance, socially, but less so numbers wise. It's like the idea that few women use the internet - it simply isn't true. neoadorable
people here used to think i was a girl. anyway, it all depends on how you define gamer. if you mean participate on neowin and other forums, read the gaming sites regulary, go to gaming stores and while away hours debating stuff from games, know the release dates for major releases for the next three months, buy major releases as they come out, take gaming in as a beloved HOBBY (yes, DM, i know) and a way of life, and be utterly sad if deprived of gaming for any length of time, then i have to say women are extremely rare. i think we all here just know when someone is one of us, and there are maybe 2% women of the bunch. this is based on my experiences. i find that there are plenty of women who play games, but they're not gamers. then there are also a lot of women who try to force the issue, they're like men in a pursuit that's dominated by women (don't want to name any for fear of being sexist). if this sounds like i'm trying to exclude women, heavens forbid - no. that's not the case. i'm not here to tell people what they can or can't like. however, true gaming women, the very few i've encountered since taking to what we call gaming back in 1979, have all made me uncomfortable. in a George Costanza kind of way, you know "if gaming George came into this room, he'd kill relationship George". that kind of way. Alladaskill17
From my experience, girls definitely do play, but (especially on vent etc) they're REALLY quiet for the most part, unless she knows most of the guys etc. Girls obviously aren't as large a % as males in games but are definitely there, and the ones I play with are quite skilled. Minifig
They exist.. Oh boy do they exist. The girl I'm currently "seeing", is a huge final fantasy fan and told me I could borrow her ps2 to play her copy of Kingdom Hearts. (I'm finally going to get to play it!) At this point in time, I knew she was a keeper.

The problem is that if we don't just keep the headset off, we won't be left alone to actually enjoy and play THE GAME. A lot of boys seem to think we're just there to get attention, or to talk about our breasts and vaginas. Or we get to enjoy an endless stream of typical and overused insults: "Get back in the kitchen", "Shut up, and go make me a sandwich", "You must be fat", "You sound like a little boy", etc..
