.net runtime problems

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just wondered if you could help me with a small problem i've run into recently.

I have made a .net app to recieve information on my server 2003 box. Unfortunatley when i try to run that app, or any other .net app an error box comes up. I am sure that it is to do with .net because the error says that there was a CLR debugging error. I believe that .net 1.1 was not installed correctly when i installed the operating system, the configuration snapin does not load at all.

The error that comes up when i try to open these apps is:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0xed8 (3800), thread id=0xee0 (3808)

the title of the error box is appname.exe - common language runtime debugging services.

So i downloaded the 1.1 redistributable. it wont let me install it "because it is already part of the operating system."

I tried copying the runtime files over from one of my xp pc's, but same error, same snapin failed to load.

does anyone know how to overwrite the .net 1.1 runtime files on server 2003? the auto install will not work any way i try it.

anyway to get these apps working would be a great help,

Thanks in advance.
