cbrookhart
I would like to periodically clear out the cache, history, and temporary internet files. When I go to the Internet options and click to delete browser history, IE shows that it is deleting all these items, but I don't think it's happening. After everything is deleted, I can use the same browser session and start typing the URL of a page that I previously viewed, the rest of the site is remembered after entering just a few letters. If I close IE and open it back up again and go to a site that I previously viewed, the same thing happens... the site is remembered after entering just a few letters. How do I get IE 8 to actually delete cache, history, and temporary internet files? cbrookhart
Can anyone help me with this? I've got IE 8 on two computers; XP and Windows 7. IE 8 on Windows XP seems to be able to delete history just fine. IE 8 on Windows 7 indicates that it's deleting history, but it actually isn't. Eric Veteran Posted September 14, 2010 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2010 By default, the "delete history" module of IE keeps the history/cookies for sites you have bookmarked. Did you try unchecking the "Preserve Favorites website data" box?
