I think I've waited long enough to get a PS3, I may get one later this year (I hope, if I do I hope it's a 500 GB) and was wondering if this was a good list of games to get (I won't get all at once):

PS3:

  • Assassin's Creed (Greatest Hits)
  • Assassin's Creed II
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Folklore
  • God of War III
  • God of War Collection
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Infamous (2)
  • Killzone (2)
  • littleBIG Planet (2)
  • Lords Of Shadows (Castlevania)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty
  • Resistance series
  • The Orange Box
  • Wolfenstein
  • Elder Scrolls (GOTY?)
PS1:
  • Castlevania: Symphony Of the Night
  • Castlevania Chronicles
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VIII
  • Final Fantasy IX
  • Spyro The Dragon
  • Spyro (2): Ripto's Rage
  • Spyro Year of the dragon
  • Rayman
  • Rayman 2
  • Metal Gear Solid

Those PS1 games I HAVE bought & downloaded onto my PSP . . . if you all see I may like a PS3 game (that's retail), PS1 (download or disc) or a mini, I'll take it into consideration. Oh and I'd like the collections (such as the Elder Scrolls GOTY instead of the 3 separate discs!!!!)

As to why I say 500 GB, I want the lest amount of trouble with firmware as possible, ALONG with about as much space as I can have as I intend to install the game data of EVERY PS3 game I get (to speed loading). And I also intend to put upwards of probably 80 GB of music on it, along with probably having more PS1 games on it.

Skip Orange Box, it's a terrible port on PS3. And if you're getting Oblivion, might as well rock the GotY Fallout 3, has all 5 DLC packs on it.

edit: I think you can also get the Oblivion DLC from the PSN store, but might as well get all at once.

I agree, if you've got Elder Scrolls there then there is no reason not to try Fallout 3, and with the GOTY edition it comes with all the expansion packs.

Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 would be good. Now that I've finally taken Fallout 3 out of my PS3 (it wasn't stuck, but I was addicted) Red Dead Redemption has gone in and is suffering the same fate.

Depending on how later you get a PS3, I'd also keep an eye out for LittleBigPlanet 2 and Gran Turismo 5. They are going to be awe-inspiring.

Before you get the ps1 games, test them out maybe on another persons console if possible. I have found many of them to just look way to horrible to get into, as well as horrible controls lol. But everything looks great. You should be pleased with it.

imo, you can skip the first Assassin's Creed .

I'd agree with this and like the others mention, definitely check out Uncharted 1 & 2 (both are great games I find).

If you're planning to get The Orange Box, think that you're only buying Half Life 2 and Portal, because Team Fortress 2 is a mess. It has had a grand total of updates since launch. Meaning the glitch to get below the map on Granary still exists.

Personally, just pick up TOB on the PC, and get other games for the PS3. Like Gran Turismo 5. (Y)

No PS1 or mini recommendations? I never really had a PS1, we did get one from a friend but we hardly got any games for it. Discs or downloads from the PSN are fine.

a lot of the ps1 games look just horrible, and werent really that great. Maybe ff7 lol.

I don't mind if they look "horrible", i've been playing some PS1 games (along with other systems) on some system I have and I really don't mind the graphics, the sun hitting the CRT (where it is) doesn't help.

Already have Final Fantasy 7 anyway, although on my PSP rather than PS3.
