LightShadow
@andrewbares I have tried a PS3, and was not very impressed... I feel my Wii could do more... And most of the games of the year, I don't even deserve that award anyway. The games I prefer to play are mainly on Wii, and the rest are on XBOX. And yeah, I prefer minigames... and cartoon style games, that's why I have a wii. I don't want to have a PS3 and go online and play all those boring shooter games, with loads of people arguing and all that online. Don't even like them offline. __End of Argument, don't want to annoy anyone :/ ___ But has sony not thought, make the adverts nicer and not always being sarcastic and all the likes. spenser.d
The Sony fans of Neowin love it and the Microsoft fans hate it - I'm surprised  Cmon now its not even that :p Seriously though, its just stupid to say you don't have control just because you don't have a controller. Sony's just ****ting their pants right now. I'm not really even sure why, Move is going to be great and that doesn't have much to do with how Kinect will also be great. LingeringSoul
They've done way worse. Remember this gem? I have to admit that I did chuckle a little bit when I saw that one for the first time. But it was definitely a bad idea from a public relations standpoint. As for this one, it definitely gives you the impression that Sony is trying a little too hard. Between this and the Windows Phone 7 funeral thing, I think this was a pretty big week for trolling. mad_onion
I completely understand where Sony is coming from with this because obviously buttons beats no buttons for the kind of games that gamers want to play. What they fail to realise is that the games that casual gamers want to play don't need buttons. Look at the Wiimote games. You could easily take the controller out of the persons hand and replace it with a camera that detects the motion. And that's what Kinect is. Pupik
I don't understand why Sony thinks Kinect can't have buttons. It all depends on the game. You can still hold a gamepad in your hands, while controlling (motions like leaning for example) the game with your upper body even while sitting on the couch. Spookie
Guess they'll try anything to distract us away from thinking it looks like a freakin sex toy. Wasn't funny the first time. Still isn't funny the 50th time afterwards. This reminds me of that age old AD campaign (might be a bit too old for some): "Sega does what nintendon't." Between this and the Windows Phone 7 funeral thing, I think this was a pretty big week for trolling. I cracked up the first time I saw that ad, honestly. It's just amazing it drew no flags before Sony revealed it. I don't have any problem with the campaign, honestly. I don't understand the point of it, but I don't have any problem with it. I mean, I don't see the marketing logic of creating a non-viral campaign that people have to seek out to be aware of. The only people seeing these "ads" (or whatever you want to call it) are going to be people that want to see them. I also don't see the point in making this an interactive ad, since it requires people become involved in it. Basically, it's like taking all the things you don't want to do in marketing and it's doing it. Sony could've been far more effective and clever in this, because it's a good message for them to try and sell.

andrewbares
Those people that can't imagine Kinect being used with buttons should look at this video: That looks painfully slow and imprecise to use, when we already have joysticks that do the same job better and faster. Plus, PS3 also has head-tracking, so your point is null. Gran Turismo 5 is most likely going to include head tracking for looking around the car while driving. First of all, it's a project that was created almost 2 years ago using off the shelf components for PC. The point of it was just to show the idea that controllers and body recognition could work together like what's already been announced that Kinect will do with the regular Xbox controller. Second, I wasn't saying that this was a Kinect only feature. I don't know if you people are being purposely obtuse about the whole "Kinect can't use a controller" thing just because it nullifies most of your points against it. In fact, the only argument I've heard that would make any sense is "motion gaming is stupid for hardcore gamers." Not saying I agree with it, but then it also discounts the Move. You're sounding just a defensive as Sony is with this advertising. Edited September 12, 2010 by xendrome Language/Personal Attack
