Which design do you prefer?

Question

Hey guys.

So my brother and I have been working on redesigning a website of ours and we each came up with slight variations of the new design. However, we can't seem to come to an agreement on which design to go with because we each like our own designs better. So I thought I would ask the Neowin comunity. Which do you guys prefer?

Note: The photos in the content section are just samples so don't count them as part of the design. In reality there will be completely different photos in that part.

MINE: (I made my template at 760px wide but the real thing will be 960px)

Also, would appreciate it if you could tell us what in particular you like or don't like about each design.

Cheers,

Jordan

Nav in #1 yeah, I can go with that, as for the content area, hard to tell when all you've layed out is a single image... so unless each page is simply an image, hard to determine which will work better with the rest of your content.

yeah the diagonal stripes are messy with the text over, make it a bit to chaotic. and I'm not a fan of having the nav button all the way at the top. bottom of the logo/header is much better. Also they stick out a bit too much with the flat black on the nearly pure white gradient he used.

so yeah the top one seems the better option.

Thanks for the input guys.

The designs are very simple because we don't want to distract too much from the photos that will be used on the site. So it's basically just figuring out simple things like where to put the nav and how to frame the content. Since my brother really has the final say in this, I think we will be going with his design but I will try to convince him to reconsider the navigation.
