HostileGamer
First of all I believe companies realize that 3d is not the biggest thing since LCD, but I do believe they think if they don't hop on the bandwagon then they will be left behind. Also, I don't know why everyone gets so worked up about netflix? I mean its like 10 buck a month for crappy old movies that look "OK" at best. I'd rather just get HBO or Starz from my cable company and get their on demand content, which is alot better than netflix, for about the same price of 15 bucks a month. citan
i really don't care for 3d as well, i still am quite more impressed with 2d and a bigger screen, and i mainly use my ps3 for watching blu-ray films, and gaming too :D
+Advancer Subscriber² Posted September 19, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted September 19, 2010 The XMB seems so basic and lifeless to me. I also want to see a big overhaul of the XMB! I mean, it has that same boring icon scrolling interface since forever, which looks OK on the PSP, but being the total entertainment package they claim it to be, I really wish they'd step it up and give us an awesome interface! The What's New is something in the right directions, but there's so much more they could do!

They just recently closed deals with WB and other companies to help allow earlier streaming/disc releases. Honestly, the problem is they are not licensed to put out newer releases like on-demand titles... Really a shame, can't wait until they do. I don't have cable, so it's best for our needs. It may be a few seasons behind, but I haven't seen any of them anyway. Just really hope the full integration is coming in this firmware release... Both of my discs are begining to give me trouble when trying to load.
Hedon
I actually like the XMB. It might be "old" in tech years, but it gets the job done.

I love the fact that the xmb isn't trying to be young and fresh I prefer its clean design to other interfaces. My thoughts exactly. Trendy ends up looking dated very quickly. Was over at my buddy's house playing Halo (I know, gasp, right?), and was struck by how cheesy and arcady the dashboard on his 360 looked. I get how people like the things Live can do, but I really don't like the UI, very much prefer the XMB. I don't even like the "What's New" and stuff like that, makes it look to cluttered. No one wear parachute pants anymore. Khakis never really go out of style, though.
Hedon
I much prefer NXE on the 360 over XMB, but I really like XMB. I like the KISS of XMB, yet I like the community integration and features put in your face on NXE. I guess I roll both ways :)
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted September 20, 2010 How about some MKV support! :) Every single topic someone asks for this  Haven't we already established it's a container for pirates only? Why would Sony include it?

Why would Sony include it? because if sony doesn't cater to the pirates a little they are forced to find their own ways that sony will hate even more. andrew_f
I think XMB could keep it's simplicity whilst freshening up the design a bit. I don't think that they're mutually exclusive.
shakey
I like the simplicity of XMB, but they do need to add a way to categorize the content you put on it, instead of just having a huge line of movies to scroll down. Other than that, I don't need flashy little graphics and menus to scroll in and out of, but a file system would be great lol.

Poof
Sweet, so happy to have 3D movie support finally... 3D games are just AWESOME on the PS3 as well right now. Xerxes
Sweet, so happy to have 3D movie support finally... 3D games are just AWESOME on the PS3 as well right now. Though quite a small number available. :( Ooh, and the update is installing now! :) Finally someone who understands the potential of 3D :) my only beef is Sony would rather me buy a 3D HDTV then use my existing 3D LCD monitor (which I use with my PS3 already* and PC and few other things :p) and I'm not gonna buy a 3D HDTV just because Sony doesn't support my monitor! I mean 3D is nice when used properly (Avatar: The Game is stunning in 3D) but all that said I'm still not getting a 3D HDTV just for my PS3 and it seems silly I can't use my 3D Monitor with it...ah well, I'm not bothered I can't try but it's still stupid if you get what I mean. * In case your getting confused, I already use my 3D capable monitor with my PS3 as a 2D monitor only. I am just referring to the PS3 not supporting it's 3D functionality.

Well movies I'm not sure if this method works... don't play them on PS3 (my PC is hooked up to the same HDTV). You just highlight over the file, press triangle and go to the files information. There should be a place for text entry (games are called "albums") so enter a genre there and save. You might have to sort afterward so just press triangle again when you're highlighting it and use the sort option up top.
