0 perochan
If the person sounds optimistic and the business isn’t to far away try stopping by and introducing yourself! It shows true dedication and devotion.. Like you actually care for their business lol! Nice tip but this doesn't work. Actually, i HATE those businesses or people that they just come in and start talking like they know what we want. We always turn them down and if we need help we will contact them 1st. If they want our business call or email 1st.

0 PortalPacific
Nice tip but this doesn't work. Actually, i HATE those businesses or people that they just come in and start talking like they know what we want. We always turn them down and if we need help we will contact them 1st. If they want our business call or email 1st. Yes TRUE I see how It might not work in all cases.. But my family has owned an Irish pub for a while and we respect people who come in with READY TO GO attitude no matter what service they are offering.. I think it shows dedication, I mean of course some people aren't going to go for it but I am only speaking for my own success in the method.. Even if you just go introduce your self and say "hey im that guy who called about the web design the other day" just stopping in sounded like a nice place.. Have a cup of coffee and something to eat or something... And leave.. The probability that they will call you back before anyone else is MUCH higher. Being PUSHY like you said is defiantly not a good thing.. Like I said make it sound simple. keep the conversation relaxed but don't be afraid to jump in with detail either... You will always be turned down for jobs.. Of course... It will happen more often then not.. But using these methods you can snag some pretty unexpected clients! Thanks for your advice!! :)
0 Cupcakes
It was very hard to read your post when you abuse the ellipses/periods far too much. You only need ONE period to end a sentence. Having your sentences... look like that... are really tiresome on the eyes for reading... and just looks incompetent. When you're not able to communicate verbally with potential clients, email is typically the next option so you need to have tip-top grammar and English. A good tip would be to definitely start looking over your copy to eradicate your abundance of periods and try to stick with it. Otherwise, yeah going locally to work up your portfolio is the best way to start off if you've got nothing else. However, there are better options people go with when they've already got things under their belt and are wanting more work. You can connect with graphic designers that might be able to forward you coding work, post up threads on specific forums that you are available 'for hire' for x job. You don't have to go with a brick-and-mortar business in order to find clients.

Thanks for your thoughts........ *although I'm pretty sure they are based off your utter hate for me and all my threads on every web-design forum on the net lol* But I agree regardless I am NOT very good with grammar.. Never have been. and for that I am sorry but it wont change many "teachers" have tried. I'm lucky I got through the hell of a school system i went through in the first place........... But yes.. You CAN find clients online posting on forums but EVERYBODY does that and its one BIG competition.. and even if you are a better designer/developer its all based off of chance.. These are the MOST effective way to get client base that will be loyal to you and doesn't complicate things by miss-communication due to my poor grammar for instance........ and its not really "brick-and-mortar business in order to find clients........" all you have to do is pick up a phone and dial..... Maybe talk a little bit in REAL life.. Something alot of people around here don't do enough............ TALK to real people............... haha So like I said YES you can just POST of forums and stuff but that was the opposite of my point and tactics.. Thanks! .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. 0 Farstrider
Hmm I am sorry I guess my advice isnt as good because the punctuation is off.. you guys are pathetically rude... What a waste of my time just offering my knowledge.. People have nothing better to do I swear... The fact that you grammar and punctuation may not be of the greatest standard, I do however agree that it's not really relevant in terms of the guide you posted! What I can say is that you should never react to people who are just plain rude! In situations like this, because of your reaction, people perceive that this is the way you respond to criticism and that if a client criticized you, the same reaction would follow. Perhaps you should make an effort to see if you can get someone to give you a few guidelines and improve you written skills. That said, don't loose heart, at least you are trying to help others and in doing so helping yourself. Cheers.
0 Mouldy Punk
wud u buy servicis from sum1 hoo tipes lyk dis and dusnt sound v. profeshenul? wat if dere stubborn an wnt chaynj cos laodsa titchers hav alredy tryd? Of course you wouldn't. It makes you sound like a 4 year old who has absolutely no experience in anything. Why should I trust you with my money? The majority of my communication with clients is done through e-mail and I'm sure it would put a lot of my clients off if I typed like you. Your apparent stubborn attitude would also make it difficult for me to want to trust you. You have to bare in mind that there are thousands of people who can do what you do - I'd rather (easily) find someone else who I can trust & understand than stick with someone who comes across as unprofessional and stubborn. I only read some bits of your first post, but I have to disagree with telemarketing as a good way to get clients. It might work sometimes, but I don't want to be 'that guy' who phones up companies and annoys them. I hate it when I get phone calls from xyz company saying "we saw your website and think we could help you with SEO and get you to number 1 in Google". Im not talking to a client apparently im talking to a bunch of self righteous idiots who have nothing better do it.. I mean your I think you missed my point. I wasn't saying your spelling's bad, I was saying you wouldn't think someone who spelt that badly was professional. Similarly, I don't think someone with such bad grammar is professional. The quality of your design work might be amazing, but your awful punctuation makes it unnecessarily difficult to read what you're saying. I didn't read it because I'm incompetent, or even because of it's length. I didn't read it all because your punctuation makes it difficult to read and just like the 'text speak' I posted - on first glance I immediately think whatever you're trying to say isn't worth my time to read Maybe you are a great designer, I don't know. I haven't seen your work. But I'm 99.9% sure that you don't make the grade of the top 1-100 in the world. I think you may have underestimated the number of designers in the whole world :p Don't get me wrong, I'm not a grammar nazi or anything. I'm not offended by simple grammar mistakes. But I do think less of somebody's professionalism if their posts are absolutely full of errors that they know about and they have no inclination to change. But then again I didnt see anything wrong with it and like i said im not good with grammar and for that im sorry.. But then again im not going to sit down with someone for 20 min trying to fix every grammar mistake I made.. Maybe I would if it was for something important but as you can see this doesnt hold much importance to ANYONE there for everything you said makes you a grammar nazi ;) along with everyone else on this hopeless forum... You reply by just making MORE errors on purpose which just makes you look childish.
