Alladaskill17 Posted September 22, 2010 Share Posted September 22, 2010 So we have an older Phillips Magnavox, non HD etc. Anyways, while on HBO whenever text comes on the screen and sometimes otherwise (not sure what 'sets it off') the TV just makes a static noise. mommabear Posted September 22, 2010 Share Posted September 22, 2010 Haven't had HBO in years so I can't visualize what you're seeing, but we had an old TV that did something that sounds a lot like what you describe. Can't give you the science about it, but it's got something to do with a lot of whiteness on the screen along with text. I think it happened on more than one channel for us, but not all of them. Maybe the only reason you see it on HBO has something to do with density or saturation of the white in their broadcast...something along that line.
