stephen_0002
Hi all, I'm not much of a sony fanboy. I do have a PS2, but it's collecting dust... anyway, I'm going on a 4 week work venture down south next month and will have alot of free time while i'm down. Last year, I wanted to pick up a PSP but never did because I had an original NDS (the big fat one). Well this is a new year and unfortunatly (or fortunatly depending on how you look at it) my NDS died. ... Last year the PSP Go just came out, I had a funny feeling it wouldn't do soo good, and now I see rumors for a PSP 2 on the horizon. SOOo what should I do??? Get a PSP, replace NDS??? or just bite the dust and wait for PSP 2 and/or NDS 3D also a lil tidbit is that I dont use it everyday, maybe once or twice a month. DPyro
Wait for a PSP2 release, probably sometime in March 2011 (it'll be backwards compatible).
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted September 29, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted September 29, 2010 it'll be backwards compatible Based upon? The PS3? I just got a PSP and love it. Then had to give it to my GF, so got another for me. LBP rocks on it, as does the emulators :)

stephen_0002
ok thats pretty cool to know... question about the emulators... don't you need it modded... custom firmware??? i'm not asking how or why (not looking to get banned)..... whats a good version of hardware.. psp 3000?? Hedon
You may want to wait till March for the Nintendo 3DS which will work with your existing DS games. That handheld is gonna smoke in sales and have a HUGE game library.

YES version of console... mmh Well... that really depends on the datecode, i'd say go for the 2000 series, then again, people will praise 1000 for its plugin support... oh well... google that topic, its fu**ing deep ****... eBay around... I wouldn't go for the 1000 because the screen is not as good, but might be just fine for most people... also, the older models feel more like "consoles" and not like "plastic toys"... stay away from 3000 or - good lord - psp go  Glassed Silver:win

Minifig
I say hold off and see what you think of the 3DS and PSP2, and their established price points, games, and etc. Then make your decision from there. The PSP will become a paper-weight when those are released.

No, the PSP only requires a single chip to emulate. Anyway I still say wait for PSP2. 3DS on the other hand will cost $250.

Nick H. Supervisor Posted September 30, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted September 30, 2010 Indeed  I regret my purchase every single day. Odd, I regret buying the DS Lite. I played the couple of games it came with and then never touched it again. It was then I realised I didn't enjoy handheld gaming that much anymore. The only thing I've played recently is wolfenstein 3D on my iPod. Good memories.
clotz2000
if you wait until the PSP2 comes out you have your choice, they will most likely drop the price on the older models and if you want to invest in the new model pending the specs and features you can do that too. But if you're looking to get something in your hands like this week then I definitely recommend just picking one up, they are awesome! If you want to get custom firmware on it there are many, many things you can do with it. Then once the PSP2 comes out and you want to upgrade you can always sell it on Craigslist or eBay... The only thing I've played recently is wolfenstein 3D on my iPod. Good memories. I wouldn't say I regret buying either my DS Lite or PSP (although I did buy the PSP twice! :p - I bought it first for GT PSP but got sick of waiting and gave it to my sis and when GT PSP finally released I bought another PSP to get it lol, crazy aren't I?) but they are both gathering alot of dust now thanks to my iPod touch, it's just easier and more convenient to use that then my bulkier DS Lite/PSP. I still use them from time to time but must admit, I find myself more and more using my iPod touch for mobile gaming. I probably won't even bother with the next generation of handhelds to be honest. Hedon
My DS Lite is used probably 100-1 compared to the PSP, even though I think the PSP is a better "device".
notuptome2004
i would get an iPod touch as it will do everything you want plus wifi and internet and alot of games on the App store and some from some big name game developers
Rudy
i would get an iPod touch as it will do everything you want plus wifi and internet and alot of games on the App store and some from some big name game developers I play with my iPhone all the time (hell I even make games for it), but I find the touch controls sometimes don't work as good as buttons would for some games (Sonic for example is painful to play on the iPhone). But in other cases touch is great
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted September 30, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted September 30, 2010 Wait for a PSP2 release, probably sometime in March 2011 (it'll be backwards compatible). there is no possible way the system is going to be releasd in march 2011... we'd already have news and a japanese release date. there's no confirmed source that it'll be backwards compatible b/c we dont even know if its going to use UMD. dont spread rumors. OP - if you have a source for an ebay, craigslist or the like, find a cheap one. dont pay retail. i bought mine on craigslist about a year ago - PSP2000, 2 games, Logitech carrying case for $125 or so.
