Hey guys, iam back after 15 days without i-net :pinch:

Well i got my new 2mbit connection up and running, but a simple problem.

i wanna send some stuff to my freinds, and host like CS games, but i cant and iam 99,9 % sure its a firewall in my router ( cisco 677 ) so how do i free ports

like the 27015 for CS or the 21 for my FTP, some of my freinds where saying that i needed to go to

Start --> run --> write CMD --> type in some NAT thing ..... but that CMD dos windows closes cuss it says it has been deactivated somehow ..... !

so can anyone help me free up some ports, and cut the pro talk !!!!

i really dont understand much about these things

well thanks guys, cya around  ....

First you would have to get into the routers config... which I have never seen in Start/Run/CMD...

Second, the firewall thats built in to routers is crap and you should just disable it

Third, you could set your computer as a DMZ host and end all port nightmares

Ok you explain to him how to config his router...

Obviously hes a total newbie at it. My settings that I gave him would end his problems without confusion... provided he would go research his product on the web, he would have no problems applying those settings...

As far as the firewall in routers... they are crap!

Not sure about your router, but mine has a certain IP address where it sort logges into the router and I can make changes to port settings, firewall settings and the like. Try 192.168.8.1 as I believe this is some kind of standard for these things, but I could be wrong. But, if that works, you should be able to make any changes needed, incluing turning your firewall off/on. Try that. Also, your documentation for your router should have all this info. If you lost it, maybe cisco has a pdf file or something online. But I believe in general this is what you want to do. Hope I was of some help.

And if you get tired of your router and want to give it to me, I wouldn't mind :-)

if you want friends connect directly to your pc (e.g. to host games) you have to ga to your router setup (most of the time just go to http://192.168.1.1 in internet explorer), then you have to open the ports and also redirect them to your internal IP address (something like 192.168.1.12). i don't know how the config of your router works so i can't help you further

:pc:
