Hikaru
If you're using Windows XP, Java is not shipped with it (Unless you got Service Pack 1 installed, Service Pack 1a does not count). I recommend that you download the 1.4.2 Java 2 Runtime Environment at http://java.sun.com and install it, no matter if you do have Microsoft's Java VM or not. This is because Microsoft's Java VM is based on Sun's Java 1.2 code, and is outdated. Direct link -> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html and click on Download under JRE for Windows Offline Installation
John Veteran Posted July 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 26, 2003 microsoft's VM is not updated anymore, but they do release security patches every once in a while. sun's runtime is the only major one that's updated. too bad microsoft won't keep up with their VM, it kicked sun's ass :)
