Problem: Exclamation icon in tray

Recommended Posts

Can mean the system has just recovered from a serious error (i think), or more specifically, someone on the same subnet has tried to use the same IP as you.

But generally its a critical error. Double clicking it will give more info.

nooo.... it says there is low virtual memory. I've had it sometimes too. Back in the days when i had 768MB PC-133mhz ram but i never used the Pagefile so i turned it off and now i have 256MB DDR PC-2100 ram and i forgot that i don't have that much ram so i did the samething and i got that lil yellow exclamation stating that i have low virtual memory.... just increase your pagefile somewhat if you have less than 512MB ram and you'll be fine.

This usually occurs when Windows has to increase the size of the swap file. If you have pop-up balloon messages disabled, then all you will see is the icon. This is also used when other system events that demand attention occur.

BTW, when the system recovers from a serious error (ie. BSOD, stop errors, etc.) a dialog appears promping you to send an error report to MS for them to analyze.

I get icon on my laptop, it means that the battery is very low and you need to change the power source to the mains. If you don't have a laptop then its probably a warning for something else. Its not a virus or a bug.
