wireless woes

Recommended Posts

i have a Linksys Instant Wireless USB Adapter (WUSB11) and a Linksys Wireless Access Point w/ 4-Port Router (BEFW11S4)

and here are my problems with it:

-it only uses 40% of the 11mbits network capacity to transfer files from once computer to another via the wireless and router

-the upload on the wireless computer stinks

-about once a minute, the network activity drops to zero, as can be seen in Taskman. the main problem with this is that it often causes downloads to hang forever, msn to reset, and icq to disconnect without any indication that it has done so (i.e. i still appear to be online to myself and my contacts, but messages dont send)

can anybody help me with any of these three main problems? that would be great. another thing that would be good is if somebody gave me some Linksys Case #'s so i can just return it

This is normal, you will never achieve 11Mb/s

What version of Linksys BEFW11S4 Do you have?

Have you updated Both the router and the usb adapters firmware?

i dont know why i cant edit my posts but...

my msn connection gets severed every several minutes (or random, i dont know yet) and i assume ICQ is still suffering similarly. does anyone know how to fix that, and/or the spikes, if they are/arent the same thing?

Could be interference, try changing the channel ;)

its very regular intervals,(as you can see in pics)

i checked to make sure that signal strength stayed "excellent" the whole time, and it did. ill try changing channels, and try having comps in same room
