Sony moved 2.5 million PlayStation 3 Move controllers in first 30 days

Recommended Posts

I have to agree though it's misleading title shouldn've been "Sony shipped 2.5 Million Move controllers". I can say I moved my dlck 1000 time today but did I had sex nooo. (Its sad I know )

How does your lack of ability to get laid relate to playstation accessory sales?

Yeah I'm married , and I was just distinguishing the word moved & shipped. It was meant as a joke.

You think people that only read a title are going to skip the actual first post and read yours? laugh.gif

I hate to be that guy, but that's exactly what I did. I read the title and started reading post #2 down.

:/

"Controllers", I assume at least 30% of the people purchased a second controller, to play with friends and what not. But a sale is a sale.

Don't get me wrong, those discussions are fine when talking about actual sales number. Since these aren't I just wanted to discuss that aspect of it. Basically I agree with other posters here that units shipped to retail means squat. Also, he mentions that they are sold out at retail, yet I checked all the main stores and they show in stock. For GameStop I happened to put in various zip codes from Miami (my area), New York (Manahattan specifically) and L.A. (the only one I knew was 90210  ) and even going out to 12 stores every single one of them had it in stock.

Seriously, you have waaaaayy to much invested in this argument at that point.

I was actually looking on their site (with other site's tabs already open) for CoD so searching for the Move within 3 zip codes was pretty easy. I was curious to see if it was truly selling out like the article implied but wasn't surprised to find it readily available. Even Kotaku found similar results:

Doing some window shopping online, it appears that PlayStation Move is well-stocked at most retailers (GameStop, Amazon.com, Target), with others (Walmart, Best Buy) seemingly short on supply of individual Move units.

Not actual sales numbers so it's not really relevant.

I will never buy Move for my PS3. It's so pointless.

In what way is it pointless? If it brings added functionality to the machine, surely that proves its use. People on here have said how well it works so dismissing it as useless is pretty ignorant.

I suppose the Kinect is NOT pointless and brings the 360 leaps and bounds past what it already was.......

I would like to know the bundle sales once they announced sold to consumer. I am confident the minority of people have a PS Eye already, so the bundle needs to MOVE.

Sony US can't make enough Move

http://www.eurogamer...ake-enough-move

PlayStation Move sales are better than Sony expected. In the US, Move was bought 1 million times in a month. "We had to go back and increase production twice," beamed Sony US boss Jack Tretton to Reuters. "We're absolutely maxed out right now. " Those numbers complement the 1.5 million sales Sony Europe boss Andrew House witnessed in his territory. Remember, Sony isn't expecting big upfront sales of PlayStation Move. Senior VP Ray Maguire told Eurogamer in August that "word of mouth" will prevail. PlayStation Move launched first in Europe on 15th September, then in North America on 17th September. Japan got the device yesterday. It uses gyroscopic motion-sensing technology inside the cylindrical controller coupled with PlayStation Eye-tracking of a glowing ball on top.

The result should be a 1:1 on-screen recreation of your gestures. To use PlayStation Move, then, you'll need the Move controller (RRP £34.99), a PlayStation Eye camera (RRP £24.99) and some games that support it. You can buy these devices separately or bundled together in the PlayStation Move Starter Pack (RRP £49.99 - better deals here). You may also like the PlayStation Move Navigation Controller (RRP £24.99), the PlayStation Move Gun and the PlayStation Move Charging Station. Microsoft's challenger Kinect enters the ring on 10th November on the back of $500m advertising spend. Its arrival has been billed to be as big as a console launch.

Interesting that I noticed something today in a second hand computer store in Leeds (CEX, quite a big used electronics shop in UK). Quite a high pyramid of used Move units. Now CEX doesn't do brand new units, so people must have traded these in.

Goes quite well with another thread I've just read about returned %age of items. It must be quite high after seeing that pile today.

I canvased all the local Game Stops looking for the Logitec Driving Force Wheel (They have the lowest store price) and saw those glowing dildo's in every store. This is in the DC/Beltway area where Game stop is every 10 feet. I think someone is "exaggerating" about availability.

Used moves already?!!?

Oh yeah, the one of the Game Stops I was just in had a few on their used rack, you can not miss them.

Although they could be legit trade ins, CeX are quite good at giving more ? for items.

i.e someone will purposely buy something on sale and trade it into profit at CeX. You can make a small profit with little effort.

This.

If you grab a real bargain online you can normally always get a decent cash value at CeX.

Speaking of bargains, picked up Singstar 1/2/3/Motown and official wireless Mics for ?35 on eBay (Y)
