John Clayton
Hi All, Hopefully someone else has run across this problem before. I'm running IIS6 and have a secure area that is protected with a self-signed certificate. The problem is that when using Internet Explorer to connect to it, it takes a good 30-45 seconds for the site to respond the the certificate is not signed by a trusted root CA. Under Netscape or Opera, no lag...it gets right to it. Switching browsers just because of this isn't an option, as it's kindof silly for one part of my own site. I've heard that self-signed certificates cause this sort of behavior, but it's curious that it only happens with IE. Does anyone know if this is an IE issue or something in IIS? If so, anyone know how to fix it (short of getting s signed cert)? Thanks in advance, John
etron
IE has an option to check for the publisher's certificate revokation etc, this might be what is taking so long. You can disable it in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security (scroll to the bottom) Let me know if that fixed it.
