Unchecked buffer inDirectX (all except 9.0b)

Recommended Posts

I just posted this through as a news submition, but it is all a bit strange.

This morning when I got in to work, our Software guy told me we had been contacted by Microsoft on a security patch. I had a look at the printed bulletin and noted the date, 23rd July 2003. They have never contacted us before on security matters

A quick glance over the alert and I read it impacts every version of DirectX except 9.0b and allows the hacker to run code of choice on the users system.

My next thought it this must be old news but I can find no mention of it on neowin considering it is critical and impacts near every windows machine there is.

I am a bit confoosed.

here is a link to the Microsoft KB
