NeoMayhem
Why use a proxy, if the RIAA or whoever you are worried about wants to, they can still easily get your real IP and hunt you down :(

+BudMan MVC Posted July 31, 2003 MVC Share Posted July 31, 2003 Do you mean check to see if the IRC server will let you connect from a proxy? Most IRC servers now check your info using identd, so bouncing off a proxy most of the time will not work. For the life of me, I can not think of a legit reason - besides pure privacy issues of bouncing off a proxy to connect to IRC. I can think of quite a few non legit reasons you might want to, getting out to irc from inside a network that does not allow it. Hiding your true IP due to ban restrictions, etc.. etc.. Coming from a different network to be able to impersonate someone else, etc.. etc.. What exactly are you looking for - a list of proxies you can get to irc from, or a list of irc servers that you can connect without identd??
