How to be Safe with Kazaa?

Recommended Posts

i figured out a pretty easy way to be safe while using Kazaa...simply go into c:\program folders\KazaaLiteKpp (or whatever yours is)...and delete the my shared folder. Kazaa will load as normal, but it will say you are sharing nothing. Anything you download will be saved to C:\temp\ just go there and collect your music...this is an easy way to download without having to worry about constantly moving the things you're downloading out of the shared directory. Hope this is useful. :D

Allright, a 'Not so safe' way to pirate music.

Thanks...

do you have that folder shared? if not, then whats the use of using a p2p client if you don't share? if everyone did this, eventually there will be no files to download...

if you're too paranoid to use kazaa, then you can either stop using it, or wait a few months when all this riaa bs will eventually die down...but by all means, don't advocate leeching..

theres an easier way. essentially, you arn't sharing any files, so you can just go to Options >Klite options (or whatever ur running)>Trafic and check Disable sharing of files weith other users. thatway, you arn't sharing anything, and the RIAA wont get you. but i think K++ or whatever they call the newest version(Kazza-Lite) blocks IPs from the RIAA. And if noone was sharing, then there would be nothing for you to DownLoad, so only do that if you ABSOLUTLEY POSITIVELY dont wnat the RIAA to get you. AND IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES, PLEASE SHARE. the RIAA arn't suing anyone out of the US, and i dont think they legally can (i'm not a lawer, but i've read stuff on the net by lawers, or ppl who consulted lawyers). so please, if your bandwidth allows, share your files, PLeASE!!! otherwise its the end of P2P, which is exactly what the RIAA wants.

Yes please share.

As for XxDesmus_MODxX, whats the difference between taking stuff outa your shared directory and placing it in relevant folders then to what you are proposing. Its the same thing, you still have to move it.

Anyway, one thing im thinking is of someone making a Kazaa Lite guide or something similar and making it sticky here in the forums.

Should cover everything fom versions, configurations, RIAA avoidance, Maybe use of 3rd party apps like Peer Guardian or similar, Firewall configuration, Anti Virus software etc etc etc.

At least this way we wont have 2-3 threads bout it each day.

And in respect to Mxxcom, we can call it the Definative Kazza Lite Configuration thread.

Oh well, just a thought.

Well yeah in essence there is no safe way to use Kazaa, but I think its important to remember that some people do use it, and those who do are at their own liability if such things happen. I can't say I've never used Kazaa myself, but I just thought that I'd let you know that you're at your own liability for any court case that is brought upon you, and I'm not sure that even a good lawyer could save you. If you're a mega-downloader, that is.

Anyways, its my first post. Hi.

i wish some rich anonymous person offered to give $xxx, xxx dollars to the individual or group that was able to design an effective, fast, and encrypted P2P protocol and application. think the ease of Kazaa with the wide variety of availlable files of emule, direct connect, and IRC channel's.....and entirely encrypted from the prying eyes of those RIAA ######...i liked to to see the $hit they would get in for breaking into an encrypted communication. i also hope the group would open source then entire project once they collected the money and proved it worked. lol....ah yes....wishful thinking. :p
