0 Nick Brunt
I assume you mean the blue ones down the right? They look pretty good, maybe the golden/brown border is a bit over-kill? Also making the text red when you hover over it is harsh on the eye. Red and blue are at opposite ends of the colour spectrum and seeing them close to each other can be a little disorienting especially when they're so vivid. 0 McCordRm
I must be looking at the wrong spectrum... I thought Yellow was the direct opposite. Any suggestion on what would stand out without being an eyesore?
0 zeta_immersion
Actually, I think it is pretty good, then again there seems to be something out of place (the orange or maybe the top title is of the weired blue - lighting blue also, the bar containing the Home, design etc. buttons does not flow with the blue on the right side (mind you I am not criticizing bad design, mainly trying to find something out of place) Otherwise I really like the blue and gray used in the background and tables
0 Bengal34
They look nice and all but when I first loaded up the site it pulled my eyes to it while shouldn't you try to view the vister's eyes to the main content and not a menu? That's about the only negative I can think of.
0 Nick Brunt
I must be looking at the wrong spectrum... I thought Yellow was the direct opposite. Any suggestion on what would stand out without being an eyesore? Hmmm, often a more subtle change can be a lot more effective. Maybe try making the text colour slightly grey, and change the background gradient of the button? It doesn't have to be blindingly obvious that the button has been selected, a small change will be enough.
0 nycmattw
Ahhh well it depends on the theme of the site is it sci-fi related? Edit: by looking at the website a little it seems to be about you. So I'm guessing this is like blog/bio related. If so then I completely disagree with the format of colors. I normally look at blogs/bios to be at least a bit light colored. Well that is if your soul and everything you do is evil. (I am 99% sure you are not that person)
0 Cupcakes
I would nix that blue gradient; It's very reminiscent of gradients that were used throughout Geocities back in the '90s. Did someone else do the menu background for you? The style is nice and current to what today's styles are.. But the content block (and text styles on your 'logo') is very outdated and does not match the menu at all. Also, you should lower the blur on the text-shadow; It's really distracting and forces eyes to strain to read it.
0 McCordRm
My Credits section shows who did what. I'm working on colors at the moment, and trying to find a good font for my name (the title). The main menu is set... I'm happy with it. So yea... a good font for the title would be good. The right menu... I'm still working on it. Let me know what you think of the whiter/gray. Oh, and the text-shadow at the top-right was supposed to come out as a chiseled-in look. I suck. And it doesn't work in IE, anyhow.
0 Cupcakes
Ahh okay that explains why it looked similar! I couldn't put my finger on it but yeah, guess I could have looked on over to the credits :p I just don't think the content portion of the site fits the rest of it. Would be nice to take a different approach with the gradient/bevel/emboss look you've got going on.. But if you're fine with it then hey, that's all that matters. 0 McCordRm
Ok, I tried to make it "match" more. The blue is still inside the right-menu tabs for the moment. I'm trying to find a more suitable color.
