Voyager near Solar System's edge

Recommended Posts

has to suck being a scientist that has to wait 32 hours for a response when asking the craft for information

Considering how far away it is, 32 hours isn't that long a time to wait..

it's only matter of time till it finds something awesome....

And we wouldn't find out about it for 24 to 32 hours later... If it did smack something, or encountered hostile alien forces, there would be no communication period leaving us clueless as to what happened. Voyagers should have taken the same path but at a different interval to cover down on the possibility of destruction. Letting us know what happended. IMO

Not that amazing, it's not as cramped as people might think.

I don't think of the solar system as cramped -- just a lot of rocks and ice flying around, and Voyager has no self-steering. ;)

The worst Voyager 1 has to deal with out there is sub-atomic particles. Space is very, very big, and objects to hit are very, very small, the chances of hitting anything is very, very low.
