OPaul
How are they connected? With ICS? Or are all the computer going into a router?
Premgenius
all the computers are connected throught a switch, network and a firewall & modem
+BudMan MVC Posted August 6, 2003 MVC Share Posted August 6, 2003 Why don't you just block the p2p stuff - this seems like work related. Why would people be using p2p stuff at work?? Turn it OFF!
Premgenius
Hw?
+BudMan MVC Posted August 6, 2003 MVC Share Posted August 6, 2003 Hw? What firewall/FW software are you using - what router/routing software? What DNS server are people using. I can think of half dozen ways to block access to anything - from blocking port access that p2p uses, to not giving them name resolution to whatever p2p network they are trying to connect to. Any type of proxy software will allow for the blocking of certain types of connections, and or the blocking of specific domains, etc.. etc... From your quick disc of your network - I would say you have a switch plugged into a machine running ICS, with a dialup connection? If you have a dsl/cable type connection - a $50 router from linksys or dlink or netgear etc will solve your problem. They provide for the blocking of outbound ports, etc.. And depending on the model - you can block specific domains, etc.. You could get a cheap personal PIX firewall for $300-400. Give some more detail of how your network is setup, and I'll be happy to tell you how to stop access to about anything.
