Sir Topham Hatt
So, I am looking at getting a decent-ish surround sound set up. However a lot of my hardware, such as DVD player / HDD recorder have only these connections in the back: The red and white output jacks, but surely i'd need more if I was to get true surround sound? At the moment, I use a 2.1 upmix to 5.1 through some old Creative iTrigue 5600 speaker set and a simple 3.5mm jack out of the DVD player into the speakers. Thanks for any advice. Jeston Veteran Posted December 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted December 15, 2010 For true surround sound, you're going to need to use optical, spdif (coaxial), our hdmi. The red and white rca cables will only supply stereo.
