[Wordpress] Discover what plugins a site is using

Question

Hi,

Is there a possibility so you can find out what plugins a certain Wordpress site is using? As most plugins are free - and you only extract the name, not the file - I can only guess you're not doing anything wrong by finding out the names of the plugins.

Thanks in advance.

W.

There is no sure fire way to find out ALL of the plugins a site uses. The only plugins you will be able to tell is if:

  1. They include an in-line 'copyright' link (eg: Form by Dagon Design) or actually have a credits section with detailed plugin listing.
  2. If the plugin inserts stylesheets or javascript that you would see by viewing source. You'd be able to see the directory listing which almost always uses the name of the plugin.
  3. You comment and/or contact the user to ask if they would mind telling you the plugins they use for a feature you want.

Otherwise your best bet is just coming to Neowin and asking questions for a feature you need and if you need a plugin for it or not.
