Nerve
Which do you prefer and why? I am looking for the easiest to use and most modifyable.
0 Guest
MyBB, cause its awesome and very easy to modify. (Nothing to do with me being a pervious MyBB Group staff member :shifty:)
0 Lord Zog
I like phpBB. Lots of mods for it and very easy to customize. I am using phpbb and Board3 as a test setup and its very nice so far. Looked at vBulletin as an option but its not cheap for a site that might not even go live yet. :p
0 HawkMan
I'd say SMF, I prefer it above all the other. but there's been some uproar in the SMF community and developers and some hijackign and stuff. It's still better than the other, so I'd probably go with SMF for now and then upgrade to the new forum being developed by the SMF breakout devs.

0 Alan-
I've dealt with setting up each of these forum softwares before, and honestly the one that I thought was the easiest to use and had the best features was phpBB. SMF and MyBB just felt lacking and were more of a pain to work with than phpBB.
0 Lucas
SMF, I don't like MyBB, it always looked like a cheap copy of vBulletin. Even thought now it seems to be better than vBulletin, lol.
0 MasterSasuke
phpbb i haven't used either of the other two, but then again, i've never come across a reason not to switch away from it.
0 Cupcakes
MyBB for sure. I see phpbb and SMF as being great options as the community is large (from being around so long) but I would never use either of these open source options if I had to give up IPB. I hate both of them out of the box as well as the skinning system. MyBB without a doubt is the best open source option right now.
0 xxxxxx.xxxxxx
phpBB3 here :) using it just now on a site of my own and its very easily used. Lots of mods, scripts and support for it :)

0 Chasethebase Reporter Posted December 22, 2010 Reporter Share Posted December 22, 2010 There's another free forum software called Vanilla which is a great looking, free piece of software. Give it a look. Has a different style to the others though, just take this into consideration.
