0 Cupcakes
Sorry for rushing but only two complaints: More color! They grey scheme is just so bland and lifeless. Also, move your footer to the 'bottom.' It looks awkward seeing it in the header area there.
0 iKenndac
I love it! Very clean and beautiful - don't think you need to start filling the empty space with stuff - it'll start looking cluttered and messy. Two things: 1) Get rid of the "x queries in y seconds" information. Seriously, nobody cares! 2) I think that you need to find a way of letting your users know they can hover over the grey box to get a menu without actually giving them explicit instructions. As soon as I've figured that out, the instructions are just an annoying waste of space. Edit: I disagree with the colours point made in the post above me. People are at your blog to read what you have to say, not to be dazzled by pretty colours - a good blog design disappears into the background when the reader wants to concentrate on the content. 0 primexx
Yea I'm not sure how best to treat the footer text. All I really need to include somewhere is the first line and the powered by wordpress line. Copied the text in the mockup from my current design which stuffs all that at the bottom so the x queries wasn't a problem. Ideas? As to instruction, I have the white triangle in the bottom right corner, but I doubt that's intuitive enough. If I'm leaving the top blank anyways then the instructions wouldn't really hurt since the space isn't being used in any case. edit: small update, what if the text menu was beside the little triangle? 0 mollick2
I really think it could use some color. I mean not bright colors maybe just a tint of color to the dark grey cube even. I love the simplicity and layout though. I might have the social networking menu on all the time instead of a flyout menu just to give your design a little something extra. 0 primexx
Updated it a bit, made the box shorter and pulled the content up so there's no a huge blank space at the top, so it's not totally empty now. updated mockups. please comment =)
