American Ninja
For me it's no because if I think the movie is cool from the trailers ect.... I will go see it for myself. But I still like hearing what movie critics have to say about movies though :D :)
uniacidz
I remember Independance Day, the critics ripped that up and threw it in the waste basket. Yet it made many many millions and i thoroughly enjoyed it. So yeh, not really. I find them usually too uptight and critical. Probably cos they are failed actors and/or didnt make it in the business. I know I loved Independance Day and everyone said it sucked. I know what you mean by "uptight and critical". On the Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper show they gave mvoes thumbs down because of car chases and explosions lol whats wrong with those? :D
bayrider
Critics? blah theyre 50 something + people with no sense of humor who only like movies that appeal to themselves and no one else... i'll never forget on Siskel and Ebert (at the time) they were reviewing Dumb And Dumber (the first one) and they said how horrible it was and blah blah... i recall Siskel saying if the movie was called "dumber and dumbest" he woulda given it a thumbs up. Since when does the title of a movie make or break the film? i'll never understand.
Terminator
We have Independance Day on DVD and I enjoy it every time I watch it. Everyone has their own personal taste's, which are obviously going to be quite different from the majority of the critics - so if you think that there is a good chance you will like the film in question you might as well check it out. ;)

Freakguy347
No. I love many movies that were rated 1 star or were given horrible ratings, and some movies that got 4 stars I've thought are crap. So it means nothing. :)
NeoSigma
For me it's no because if I think the movie is cool from the trailers ect... sometimes the trailers are the only good thing about a movie...
benjeeeboy
yes, definately. I usually agree with the critics. I sortof am a critic myself, and really criticize movies for small things tho.
CatnipOligarchy
unless i have already decided whether or not i want to see a movie, i will lean on the critics a little bit.. if a movie gets a really bad score at rottentomatoes.com, ill think twice before seeing it.. and if it gets a really good one, i will try to catch it
eth3l
No, not at all. In fact the more they hate a movie the more I want to see it.
IlliniPi
I hate listening to critics...its just so useless. Since I'm a teenager I want to see movies aimed at me, and when I read a bad review from some guy like Roger Ebert about some teen movie, then I know I still might like it. I know Ebert as well as some others gave all of the American Pie movies horrible ratings as well as some other top sellers, but I still saw those movies and loved them. So in other words, **** you Roger Ebert. :p
AndyD
No, I usually don't. Unless, I know there is a collective hatred for a movie, i.e. Gigli.
FocusX
Noooo way, in fact I never read reviews before I see a movie. Useless for me :)

Joseph Zollo
The opinion of one does not influence my decision in the least bit! Don't let the critics tell you what to see and what not to see.
ChicoCahill
how can all of you say that critics don't influence your decisions, i guarantee half of you check rottentomatoes to see how good of a review a movie got
aem4162
I will listen to and read reviews but they don't make the decision for me.
AgEnTsMiTh
I never have had a review influence my movie viewing. I do however respect a few critics and read there reviews regularly like Ebert.
Mark Otto
Only time I am influenced to see or not to see something is if a friend says so or something along that lines. I don't od reviews heh...too much to read. Just ask a friend: "did it suck?" and you're set.
ChicoCahill
so if gigli had gotten 100% fresh on rotten tomatoes it wouldn't have any affect on if you would go see it or not
sanctified Veteran Posted August 7, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 7, 2003 so if gigli had gotten 100% fresh on rotten tomatoes it wouldn't have any affect on if you would go see it or not hell, even oscars cant make me to see a movie... I just watch movies recommended by friends and just in certain generes
AgEnTsMiTh
It would have no effect on me what-so-ever. And you know what, I will still see it because I watch anything and everything I can because I love the art of film.
nhut
They give you the general idea, but I don't decide to see it just based on reviws. Sometimes you agree, sometimes you don't. Sometimes they make you walk in to the cinema with low expectations to be pleasently surprised. Then there are those that you walk into with low expectations and realise the film was even worse that you thought it'd be (Matrix Reloaded, heh). But on the whole, I don't give a damn. Ebert says Harry Potter is a better film than LOTR. Shows how much he knows.
Ayepecks
Very, very, very rarely, but I still voted "No". Critics are the biggest crapshoot there are, especially for movies.
