The only reason im looking forward to SP1 is for 2008R2, we run Hyper-V and there is some big changes for us which Hyper-V has needed for a long while (dynamic memory!!)

Just installed v741 that leaked in early december and it's as expected. No major changes anywhere but it does seem a bit snappier (this is a fresh install that i installed 741 on right after clean installing RTM). I opened up IE and and Outlook 2010 and both of those fired up pretty fast. Nothing special as was noted though, some little additions with USB 3.0 being supported now and some Bluetooth additions but nothing special.

Have fun with that. I do not want to reformat and set all my backups up again, and apps and configure the system the way I have it now.

Doing a clean install of windows, on a newly built PC. That's fun, I enjoy that. But reinstalling windows and reinstalling / configuring all my applications. I don't find any pleasure in that at all.

100% agreed. This is a weakness of the OS if necessary.
