New announcements:

Made in Wario - Oct 2003

New Zelda-2004 (Not financial year but 2004)

New Donkey Kong - 2003 (Jointly developed with Namco)

New Strategy:

Buyers of new products in US and Japan will get points for buying games which they can spent on stuff from Nintendo Club.

For those points they can buy:

Preview/Not released versions(Thats what he said)

Demos, video and music dvds/cds and merchandising articles not avaible at retail, doesnt says anything about complete retail games.

Nintendo expects to have 300K-500K registered members within a year from now.

Nintendo doesnt plan any buyouts of third parties.

Comments from Saturu Iwata:

New product that is 'innovative' in Spring 2004. We prepare a new product, that surprising and unique will be.' It is to stand out qualitatively against past developments and be introduced in the next spring (exact details are unclear).

Sony PSP will not influence our plans. Sonys multi-functional Handheld PSP will have no large influence on our business. But no matter whether Sony brings a new product out or not, we prepare our future. We will be able to likewise give exact data in the next spring.

We want to make 'easily enjoyable products'. A singular and easily playable product to make, Nintendo will lead on a new way of growth. We want to stop to make video games ever more complicate or more difficult. Instead we want to make simpler software for a larger audience.

Others:

Nintendo will launch in China this year.

Pokemon Ruby and Saphire will break 10 Mio mark before end of the year

hmm...so far i haven't seen anything that would please the investors. they have been begging for a price cut and a real strategy but so far it looks like Nintendo is their same stubborn can't see the writing on the wall self. it's sad actually that Nintendo is pratically dependant on pokemon and GBA. yet they don't take the threat from Sony seriously. they also make this same mistake over and OVER and over again and a few months after the new system is released, you just see countless articles about Nintendo fighting to maintain marketshare etc....

i've seen stories that where Sony says that they can coexist with the GBA in the handheld market and not try to destroy it and likewise, but i seriously doubt that  Sony is after everything as well they should be and they are going to try to crush Nintendo and if Nintendo doesn't take this seriously and loses the guaranteed money from the handhelds they might as well go software only.

yeah Nintendo just let Rare use it, when MS bought Rare, Nintendo still kept DK since technically they never sold it to Rare. they still own Star Fox as well, Rare only has Perfect Dark since that was something they started on their own.

What could this 'innovative' product be thought, surely not a new GB already. it seems like the GBA SP is just peaking now, especially with the new Pokemon games in tow.

It's still too early for the GC sucessor too right...?

i just wanna know what past developments hes referring to

News: Banjo Kazooie GBA On Track

Aug 6th 2003 18:55 by James

The new Banjo game for GBA, after months of silence from Rare, now has a publisher, and a US release date!

After Microsoft bought Rareware, it was announced that Rareware still had ties with Nintendo and would produce GBA games. Yet since the sale we have heard next to nothing on any Rare games, including the highly anticipated Banjo Kazooie. Yet now, it seems, there is an answer to our prayers.

Rare have now confirmed that THQ will be publishing the game, and the release date was said to be 15th September 2003 for the US, with no UK date just yet.

for anyone that didn't know this already.

I'm betting that announcement on in the spring will either be a new Game Boy or a new chip to put into GBA carts to allow better 3D capabilities on the current hardware. They say PSP won't affect them for the investors' sake, but internally they're preparing for battle.

So nobody is excited about Wario Ware for GCN? :(

BTW, that Donkey Kong game is for the GCN in case anybody was wondering.

I am hoping the new device is a plug-in to the gc to play all past nes, snes and 64 games, but maybe that is just wishful thinking ;)

I've always wanted that, but it's so not going to happen. :(

  • 3 weeks later...

Too bad that the Nintendo VIP points aren't worth anything just now - by the time I had enough for a Gameboy Advance they had run out :(

Now all that's available is pictures to download.
