Muffzilla
Norton Internet Security has been reporting incoming UDP requests on port 666. What exactly is this port used for? For the time being I have pressed block each time, but it seems to be happening about 3 times per day. It also says DOOM after port 666. As far as I know, there is no need for incoming requests on that particular port, but I still don't know what it is used for. I would also like to know if it might be a good idea to block that port on my router. Thanks for the help in advance!

OPaul
Well mdqs is something to do with printers I think, some queuing system or something. So if you don't have that you may have a trojan of some sort. The Cleaner is good at detecting those. http://www.moosoft.com/thecleaner/
+BudMan MVC Posted August 8, 2003 MVC Share Posted August 8, 2003 Huh?? Your behind a router - every dsl/cable router I have ever seen BLOCKS all inbound ports, unless it is a reply to something - and since UDP, that does not make sense?? Are you in the DMZ of your router? Or did setup a forward for a range of ports that include this? What IP address is it coming from, maybe its something inside your network?
