Freemake Video Converter - http://www.freemake.com

</End of Thread>

Any for any of you who have recommended something else, I recommend you look at Freemake.

It converts video, audio, pics, DVD's and web urls to a ton of other formats and presets for mobile devices.

Will also burn directly to DVD/Bluray, and uses CUDA

I've just checked it out and its it pretty nice what you can do with that application (I particularly like the small video editing capability). However, that program doesn't have any where as much capabaility as SUPER does. You can't use as many formats and there are no advanced features as there are with SUPER.

I suppose therefore, if you just want a very quick conversion with only a few limited choices choose this one. But for the real power user I don't think you can do any better than SUPER if you just want to stick with freeware.

Having said that, thanks for showing me that site as their other piece of freeware (Video Downloader) looks extremely useful.

I thank everyone for the responses. I'm now having and issue with a mpeg I created with AVC free. The sound doesn't get picked up on my dvd player. It's a NTSC mpeg. That app doesn't do VOB files. I'm going to try one or two of the suggested

Any Video Converter Free?

I would have to say that is SUPER: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

The site looks dodgy and its quite hard to get hold of it, but it is still freeware and it can convert pretty much anything into anything.

Heck yeah it looks dogy, lol. I had to click and scroll until I found the download link. It directed me several times to download other apps. Hopefully this will do the trick. Seems like it will.

Thanks for those links. Super did the job. (Y) I had it include bup and ifo files which burning with Nero said that it would not be playable in stand alone DVD players. Well it worked perfectly and was full screen on my 37" Sony Bravia. Made my wife happy.

Basically a friend took video with our digital camera at a company party of my wife's entertaining skit. I had to covert from AVI to VOB to make a DVD. Thanks for all your help. I recommend Super 2010 for anyone wanting convert video files, it's fairly robust and capable.

No problem. I always find that SUPER can sort out anything you need.

The team that create it don't like people mirroring their software and that is one of the reasons it is so hard to download (so people can't hotlink it).

Tried the converter last night, made a DVD for the parents.. Not too impressed with the speed of the conversion, WinAVI is ALOT quicker, but nice interface and obviously more options available..
