bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 8, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 8, 2003 Me and my girlfriend use AIM Talk alot and I recently got cable access (using a router) and now the Talk doesn't work. I have tried using that option "Use alternate address" or whatever, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
OptiPlex
Upgrade to latest version of AIM (use the beta version). And pick the option that lets you use AOL proxy for incoming/outgoing transmissions
deimos
figure out what port aim is using to connect for the talk, and foward that to your computer from the router. i know it uses port 4443 for direct connection, but i dont know if its the same for the talk. Joseph Zollo
Make sure you BOTH have the LATEST (5.2.3292) version of AIM. I was having this problem with version 5.1 but when both myself and my friends updated, it worked perfectly.
