Captain Phatty
I am mapping a network drive across domains in Windows 2000. There is obviously a different user name and password needed to do this. Does Windows by default cache the credentials needed for this connection if I tell it to reconnect at login? If not, is there a way I can do this? Joel
I would move this to the Windows Client forum, you'll get more people on it. Is this just by mapping a drive? There's a link in the Connect box that says Connect Using a Different User Name, set it there.
Captain Phatty
I have set the password there. The problem is that when you log off and log back in, the login/pass isn't being saved, thus promting for that login/pass everytime. I need to know if it is supposed to be saved, which is what I thought, or if it isn't supposed to be saved, if there is a way I can get it to save. Joel
I thought it saved, but I also don't use it. Can you assign the permissions for the user to connect across the domains?
Captain Phatty
I don't understand your question...
Joel
Well, you said you are connecting across domains. Do you mean different domains? If yes, you probably need to set up trusts so that users on domain 1 can connect to resources on domain 2.
Captain Phatty
Yea, thought of that, but I don't have control over the second domain, but oh well. I figured out that if the user changes their password to match on both domains, it will use it for both domains, even though its not the same use account.
